Winter Tires
Winter Tires
I currently have an '05 M6 with the 19" wheel/tire package (F-225/40/19, R-245/40/19). I've purchased a set of stock 17's for the winter and the recommended tire sizes are as follows, F-225/50/17 and R-235/50/17. Can anyone tell me if I used 235/50/17's all the way around what would be my issues if any?
Thanks.
Thanks.

i have the same tire/wheel setup as you (for an '05 6MT--19 inchers; 225 front, 245 rear)..
which "stock" rims did you end up getting (you mentioned they were 17 inch)? where did you get them from?
did you end up going 235 all around or stagger 225/235?
thanks
I'm also looking into a winter setup. I have emailed tirerack with questions. They mentioned that i need the TPMS sensors. He mention that this is the reason why tirerack don't have a full winter setup(tires/rim) for the 05s. Do I need a set of TPMS sensors for the winter setup? or can I do without?
Any help will be appreciated.

You can do without. Your tire pressure indicater light will turn on, but only after you've been driving for around 30 minutes. It resets every time you turn the key off. For short trips the light won't even turn on so you'll never know the difference...
Well, at least that's how my '04 behaves.

Most people feel more comfortable using a staggered set up for their snows........It make sense since our summer setup is that way.
I was torn back and forth when I set out to purchase my winter setup........I listened to all the pros/cons, and decided to go with the same size front and rear, Dunlop M3 winter sport...225/55/17's on ASA KA3 17.5 rims. Another forum member had this set up (size tires) the year before, and they performed wonderfully.
I had no issues with the VDC/ABS, and the TPS only went on maybe a total of 3 times in the 5 months/7,000 miles I had the snows on.
The rears are within 1% of my Summer performance tires
and the Fronts are 3%. I found no issues what so ever. I even had a couple of panic/sudden manuevers with out a glitch from the systems.....
hope this helps.....

I also heard from the dealer and tire rack that I had to install tire pressure monitors. Is there a difference between 04's and 05's? I keep seeing the reference to a dash light but my '05 also chimes- far longer than necessary IMHO. Can it be disconnected?
My '04 only chimes if there is a sensor present that doesn't give a good pressure reading. Not sure if you can disable. If the Infiniti engineers were kind they put this on a stand-alone fuse...
