Low Tire Pressure light

The last two days my car has the tire with a ! lit up and its P#ssing me off. I checked all the tires and they are all perfect, so why wont the stupid light go away?

Is it because its only 30 degrees outside?

Are you checking your pressures cold, before you drive the car at all?

That's the problem then. You have to set 'em cold - even a mile of driving can bring them up 2 or 3 psi. Make sure you get yourself a decent gauge, don't rely on the air pumps at gas stations. If you have to drive to get air check them before you leave home and add a couple extra psi, then check them again the next morning and adjust accordingly. Or just buy a $10 pump, it makes it much easier.

To answer your earlier question, a tire will change about 1 psi for each 10 deg. F of ambient temperature change. It can also lose as much as 1 psi a month just bleeding air through the rubber.

Check the sticker in the driver's door jamb, assuming your 19's are original for the car. I don't have 19's, so I couldn't say for sure.

Checking the factory specifications on the door jamb is ok as long as you have the oem tires but sooner or later you're going to change the tires. Rather than depending on the sticker, locate the tire specifications ON THE TIRE. Look for the tire's maximum psi load.

You should always go by the sticker, on the door or under the center console, no matter what the tire as long as it's the original size. If you go after market with the lower profile, than you might want to put an extra 2-3 psi. Specifications on the tire only show maximum psi load, that you should NEVER exceed.

Word of advice: Go by the car door sticker and stick to it!
