Quote: Paint will crack no matter what unless you can get enough heat to make the paint flex.
If the paint cracks don't you still have to worry about rust?

I believe the primer holds together, but I could be mistaken

No, because where the lip is there are two plates of metal welded together. If you cut them you open up both. You can't completely get that sealed off again and primered over it. There are weld joints that hold it from moving. If cut the weld joints are not longer there and the sheet metal of the car will rub against each other and scrape the paint/material off and it will continue to rust. There is a inner body panel and outer. Both are welded together there.

Bending it up and fixing a paint crack is like fixing a chip on the paint.

Oh OK, thanks for the explanation.

Nickk6 - Isn't it better to just take a hit on this one, put your 275/35's up for sale and buy some 275/30's? In the end, yes, you will obviously lose a small amt. of $, but it's better than having to "baseball bat" your fenders....no?! Just my thought.

even if you get it not to rub with normal driving, what happens when you hit a bump or pot hole? will the angle of the suspension avoid rubbing, or will it hit?

Won't matter. I got to test it on our big Rampage Bull cruise. My back end of hte car bottomed out on the bump stops several times and no rub.

I rather figure out how to fix the rub with the 275/35/19 than use a small tire and risk even more damage to the rims. It is barely rubbing, and as G35_TX mentioned, he stopped rubbing after slightly bending the fenders. I am going to lower the car with proper camber and then see how much needs to be bent in.

Ouch, what is your suspension setup?

Stock. Let's just say were going fast, very fast wtih a few dips that were next to each other. I also had about 150lb of stuff in the trunk at the time too.

Are you gonna upgrade by any chance. I am not looking to "slam" my car, I would like to even out the front with the rear. I know my tires are a tad small up front, but there is still a large gap there to begin with.

I probably need about a 1.5" front and .5" rear drop, is any spring available that can handle this without giving the car bad handling characteristics?

Yes. I plan to drop my car with some springs. I have yet to decide what springs I want. IllG35 had some nice springs on his.

He said these were the ones he had: http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=3317

I dunno...those do not mention the drop. How much are you looking to spend on your suspension? Seems like we are both in the same boat as far as suspension/rubbing issues.

My lovely gap
