I got the same pads yesterday and will be installing them soon. They sure don't seem like they are going to be less dust, they are black and dusty as hell in the box. Got all over my hands just picking them up.

Re: brake pad instalation?

All pads are going to produce dust just some more than others..

A characteristic that makes ceramic materials attractive is the absence of noticeable dust. All brake pads produce dust as they wear. The ingredients in ceramic compounds produce a light colored dust that is much less noticeable and less likely to stick to the wheels. Consequently, wheels and tires maintain a cleaner appearance longer.

Why would the dust be lighter colored? The pads are black as night.

Re: brake pad instalation?

LOL, the brake dust has moved from your wheels to your hands. I can see already, this dust is getting out of control!

Thanks - Joey Avino

Ant, you had black ceramic pads before on another car and you noticed a big decrease in the dust problem still? That would make me feel a bit better.

Re: brake pad instalation?

Well, I installed mine tonight. Took all of 30 min and was rediculously simple. Turns out my old pad prob had another 10k left on them, and they already have 15k on them. So I wouldn't say our brakes are all that bad, because I drive very aggressivly. We will ahve to wait and see now if it helps with the brake dust.

Re: brake pad instalation?

Will you guys please update us on your pads once your put some miles on them? How do they feel compared to our stock ones, dust comparison, mileage updates, etc.

I'm totally interested but here's where I'm leary. Why, since some of these pads are so cheap even to the public, has not Nissan picked up on this and started including in all their vehicles? I mean if it's a better product (less dust/same performance) why didn't some exec at Nissan/Infiniti thats making a killer paycheck per year think of this? You would think that as much thought that has go into our cars, that someone at a board meeting would have brought it up when it was in development if they worked that great. Oh well, who knows goes on in the corporate world!

Re: brake pad instalation?

yeah a big difference. they were raybestos quiet stops. if these satisfied ceramics don't work i am going to take the old stock pads to pepboys and match them up to raybestos quiet stops for the maxima (they don't have any for our cars yet but on this board people are saying they are the same as maximas / altimas). i posted this pic before, the rim is a little dirty but keep in mind the car has not been washed in a month or two.

SalTNutz,
after you installed the pads did you notice the so called abs recalibrating noise coming from the right front during acceleration from a stop?

Re: brake pad instalation?

Nope. The pedal went all the way to the floor 1st time I pushed, which is normal. After that, they acted just like my old brakes. Also note, I just drove my car over 600 miles and my front rims are much cleaner than the back ones, and you guys know, the back ones aren't bad at all. I'll take a pic later and post it. I guess these ceramics really work with controlling the brake dust.

Re: brake pad instalation?

last question i promise. did all four of your ceramic pads have wear sensors on them? only 2 of mine did one for each side wear as the stock had the wear sensor on all four of them.
