225/50/r17 or 225/55/r17 for winter ??

I have a 2004 m6 coupe, I ride on stagered blizzak LM-22 on OEM wheels right now and it's not really great in snow...

I want to have a 17 inches setup for next year, I just found some good used 225/50/r17. I was looking for 225/55/r17 all around, I know people running their coupe on that.

Will I be fine with four "not stagered" setup of 225/50/r17?

Anyone running on that?

Thanks!!

I ran 225/55/17's all 'round on my coupe and it was fine. You won't have any trouble with the 225/50/17's either.

I asked on another thread but no one seem to have any answers. I have the stock 235/50/17 and 225/50/225 original tires and I want to buy new tires - 235/45/17s and 225/45/17s.

The TireRack.com fellow insists that by doing this I may set off the VDC and the system won't work properly. Should I listen to this advice or is he just trying to push his recommended tires?
Thanks!

Those #'s calculate out to about a 3.5% difference in circumference/revolutions per mile.
That's very close to upsetting the VDC. Tough call.

I'm presently using the same setup as you, LM-22 on 18".
Not impressing at all as you already have noticed...

Your best choice would be to put 225/50R17 (FRONT) and 225/55R17 (REAR)
That way the VDC will still give you an appropriate safe reading in case of an emergency.

As for running on the same size all around.
I asked 4 different dealers.
All except one dealer said to keep the staggered setup untouched.
Since it was not unanimous I did called Infiniti Canada.
Their answer was do not change the staggered setup as this could interfere with the VDC & ABS.
More this could be a valid reason to void the motor/transmission warranty should they ever had a problem...
(I would like to see that in a court of law... Still, better safe then sorry)
