Offset questions.

Ok I got my Volk GT-7's yesterday and they are 19X8.5 all around but the are +46 offset. I don't have brembos and it is at stock height.

Questions are:

Will this be an ideal offset?

Will this rub anywhere?

Will the wheels be tucked in and fugly?

Can this be fixed with spacers and not affect driveability?

Sounds like you got a really large offset. I don't think that'll even fit. I could be wrong though.

The larger the offset, the more the face of the wheel will be pushed out toward the edge. Offset is measured from the center of the wheel. In other words... ZERO offset is in the middle of the wheel. +46 means the mounting point of the wheel is 46mm away from that center.

Day,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the higher positive offset number means the more tucked the wheel will be........the center hub of the rim will be closer to the fender. Negative offset will give you a deeper dish look, a wider outer lip. I agree that 0 offset puts the center hub in the middle of the rim. If I'm confused correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry, but I don't want to steal the thread but I'm looking to get 19x9 and 19x10.5 wheels for my coupe with 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 tires. I was assuming I would have to go with a deeper offset (+35 to +40) because of the wider rims. What are the suggested offset for this setup?

Thanks,
Mark

Yeah i used the offset calculator and it shows me the same thing...I called the wheel seller and he said that they will fit..he claimed that he does this all the time and he knows by experience. I told him that I will mount them and see if everything is alright. If not, he said I can send them back. I will mount them tomorrow and if they look good and fit alright, i'll post pictures.

I always do a search and look at latest post. I only found lots of mixed up opinions that are useful, but only useful if you are not in a hurry to find out the answer. Thanks for the suggestion, but I was looking for a one to one type of answer instead of a potpourri of answers.

At www.rims-n-tires.com it shows that the higher the positive offset number the more tucked the wheel and doing a search on the forum it seems the opposite. I wanted conformation since I'm looking to buy rims and tires, I wanted feedback on the best offset since I was getting conflicting info.

I guess everyone that asked a question you assume doesn't do any research. I've done allot of reading on the forum and have gotten great info and only posted a few times in the couple months since I joined the forum. The point is I do allot more research than I do posting so for someone to tell me do research first, is to quote being a "a.ss".

That's going to be more tucked in than you can even imagine. ( so yes; fugly) You should always consult w/ someone or a shop who specializes in Gs and related offsets before purchasing wheels...even more so if you are concerned about the wheels being tucked in. Best regards ;

Actually at stock height, it's better to have the wheels tucked in more
so that the lower profile tires don't emphasize the wheel gap.

so, imho, your offset isn't bad at all. i believe gsedan35 runs +41
all around, lowered. with that said, +46 should work just fine. just
make sure it doesn't rub anything on the inside.

you can run some 5mm offset spacers too, if it looks too tucked
in.

i laugh at those where their wheels are sticking out of the fender.
now THAT's fugly.

Ok here is a pic of my wheels.

+46 are kind of close to the control arm...but Im going put in some 5mm spacers to fix that problem. But they are not rubbing.

The stock wheels are +45 so It wasn't too much of a difference.
