tein s-tech springs
Re: tein s-tech springs
Ok, I just called Tein for you. The springs are progressive. And the rates they list on their web site are the final rate's. . Which are 358 front and 274 rear. Their rear rate is way to soft for a final rate. Stock rear rate in the sedan is 407!, 419 on the Z and coupe. And since their progressive, their initial rates are going to be softer, I'd hate to see how soft the initial rate is in the rear. They do NOT have the initial spirng rate info, I asked. Running a rear spring rate that soft will increase the understeer the car has.
I agree that the 2" front and 1.3" rear drop the tein springs offer is a nice thought, but performance wise the Z springs will clean them up. As will the RSR drop springs, which will drop your sedan 1.5" front and 1 5/8" rear.
BTW, I had a very good experience calling Tein, very nice.

Re: tein s-tech springs
so gsedan, you're saying to go with the 350z struts and then add the rsr springs for the 350z? can you help me figure how much of a drop that is?
btw, how is your camber using only the 350z suspension: struts & springs.
and do you scratch your exhaust or bumper when going up certain driveways or over speedbumps?
i had a lowered prelude and i scratched everwhere...can only imagine what would happen with a longer wheelbase. thanks

I added in the RSR drop to what you'll get using Z springs and they will drop your car 1.5" front and 1 5/8" rear. Frankly, their's no logical argument as to why you couldn't run the RSR springs in the front only and the Z springs in the rear, hey the spring rate is the same, why not. Doing that, your drop would be 1.5" front and 1 1/8" rear, just a thought, in case you'd rather have a bit more of a front drop.
On my camber. I have honestly not lifted a finger to correct it or check it. I can see with my eye's that the rear is more negitive. I can't really see it in the front. If and when I get my lazy self to the shop, I plan on having the car set to the more aggresive Z camber specs. I'm hoping that the rear's factory adjustability is enough to do that. If not, I'll get LSDunique's really nice $220 camber rods.
On the scratching things question. I have to avoid ALL parking lot bump stops at ALL cost's. The car's front lip spoiler is getting messed up from the time's I "opps" onto them. If I keep forgetting, that front lip spoiler is gonna get some major munch markes, it's scratched up a bit now. Speed bumps I usually don't have to care about. Only 1 really bad drive way caused the low part of the exhaust going to the rear muffler to kiss the pavement, it was impossible for me to do a extream angle to avoid the scrap. And I have misjudged the depth of a few driveways and run out of rear suspension travel a few times, (hey some times it's just to tempting to go slow). Of course if I had progressive springs, things would have been allot worse as far as scraping goes.

Re: tein s-tech springs
yea its a drag to have a lowered car sometimes. at least my old prelude was automatic so it was easier to control. my g35 is a maual...im gonan have a hell of a time going slow over bumps and such. oh well. btw, the Z has more aggressive camber? what does that do? doesnt it make the tires wear unevenly?
