Hi guys, my tires are coming to the end of their lives and I'm thinking that if I'm gonna have to buy new ones might as well buy a whole new set of wheels. I own a 2005 G35 Sedan with just the standard 17" wheels. Nothing special like sports package or anything. I'm thinking of settling down with some 19" rims but have a few questions:
1.) I've heared that you need a "drop" to stop these from looking silly. What is involved in getting a "drop" and how much does it usually cost to get someone to do it?
2.) What effect does the wideness (8.5, 9.5 etc) of the tire have on the car apart from looking more badass (in my opinion)?
3.) What is the widest measurement (8.5, 9.5 etc) of rim and tire that will fit on my car without any problems.
4.) Will I be able to use full size tires on 19" rims with a "drop"? The slim tires look cool but I love the smoothness of the ride I have with my stock 17's. I heared that the slimmer tires make the ride feel more bumpy (kinda makes sense).
5.) Anyone seen pics of a G with rims like the one's in the pic below? What do you think of them?
Thanx for your help.

Drop == Lowering the car.
I'm not a fan of those rims.
I'll leave the other questions for Sedan guys...

You can drop your sedan with springs, springs + shocks, or coilovers. There is a wide range of prices for each, but generally lowering springs are the least expensive option.1.) 8.5 front, 10 rear...however, the widely accepted staggered set-up is 8.5 front / 9.5 rear.3.) What is the widest measurement (8.5, 9.5 etc) of rim and tire that will fit on my car without any problems.

I'm not sure what you mean by "full size tires".4.) Will I be able to use full size tires on 19" rims with a "drop"? The slim tires look cool but I love the smoothness of the ride I have with my stock 17's. I heared that the slimmer tires make the ride feel more bumpy (kinda makes sense).
The bigger the wheel diameter the lower profile the tire is going to be. Remember, the overall height of the tire will only change slightly with aftermarket wheels. Yes, bigger wheels will make your ride a little rougher.Quote:

No, and I hope I never do. Those wheels are f*cking awful!5.) Anyone seen pics of a G with rims like the one's in the pic below? What do you think of them?
PS - The reason you haven't had many responses to this thread is because all these topics have been discussed MANY times before. Do yourself a favor and utilize the search function. The information is out there, you just have to find it.
