Stored Tire - flat spot question
Stored Tire - flat spot question
Alright, I know tires are supposed to be stored by hanging them so I should have listened - but I stored a stock rear tire vertically on the ground for about 4 or 5 months and it has developed a flat spot. It is not too bad, but when you look at it from a side profile it is definitley flatter where it contacted the ground.
Is the tire ruined? If I hang it for a period of time and let gravity do it's work, will it round out? Is there any other way to fix it? I won't need this tire for 6 months or so, just really want to use it when it is needed, or shall I just write it off?
Thanks for any input or bits of wisdom.

tires without wheels should not be hung but stacked horizontally or
if vertically, rotated every 3-4 weeks.
i would try inflating it to 37psi and drive around ...it *might* return to
its original roundness...but once it builds up memory like that, the tire
is ruined for good.
