Raising Car

Is there any way I can raise my fronts like 1/4? I personally think it's a bit aggressive.

Re: Raising Car

probably coilovers would do the trick. check out tein coilover systems. generally they can raise higher then stock but they are a bit pricy.

Re: Raising Car

Don't do it WRECK unless your front scrapes, it's going to look funny if its a little raised.....

Re: Raising Car

Front doesn't scrap to much.. I would say my rear splash guards scrape more than my fronts. Since the springs have settled, the first reaction when people see my car is "wow the front is really dumped". I cant even put a pinky finger in there. I think if it where raised 1/4 or a wee bit more than it would protect myself when I get careless parking over parking blocks. I figure you can just put a rubber in there like nascar to raise the car bit.

Re: Raising Car

oh i did not know you already had springs installed. usually people buy aftermarket shocks ie koni and that usually raises the car a little bit.

but i dont think koni came out with shocks for the g35 yet.

You could buy some "spring helpers" from Pep Boys or Kragen or someplace like that. They're little squares (sometimes metal, sometimes rubber) that lock into the spring, in between the coils. You have to jack the car up to create the space in the spring, but they work pretty good if you have a slight rubbing problem.

Re: Raising Car

Those "helpers" also eliminate a bit of spring travel, shortening the available distance before the springs bottom out. I wouldn't recommend them unless you have a really old beater car that's worth less than a new set of shocks/springs.

Re: Raising Car

If he only wants to raise it a 1/4" he would only need a small lift, maybe 1 spring spacer. Hell, he said he couldn't get a pinky in between the tire and fenderwell, so he's probably right on the bump stop to begin with. I'd rather compress a spring all the way as opposed to ripping my spoiler off on a parking block...

Re: Raising Car

.....and people wonder why guys put 20's on their G's...so you don't have to go through the hassle of lowering it!

Re: Raising Car

How would putting "20's" on your car make it any better than 18's or 19's for that matter? Your tire's profile is still going to be shorter than stock, making it look like there is more gap. The diameter is the same...or so I'd hope.

...but if you take up more of that gap with rim, there will be less of an illusion. My point is, if you like the "high performance wheel-low profile tire look" , you can go with 20's. If you go with 19's or less, you are going to have to lower your car, or go with a taller profile tire, because the G has huge wheel wells. And since lowering your car obviously isn't an exact science,(sometimes a company advertises a spring lowers a car a certain amount but that's not the amount you get) you sometimes end up with problems like Wrecks. They can be resolved, it just takes some time and most importantly, $$$$$$
