Friend wants FI from ebay

I know this has been posted countless times but my friend couldn't quite figure out the answer. Let's say my friend has the best injectors, connecting rods, pistons, fuel pump, low cam ratios, and a nice new garrett turbo as such http://r.ebay.com/DNXSPm. What could really be the problem if he bought an eBay kit for all the piping? Isn't the main concern with eBay FI kits that the turbos will break? So if his engine is somewhat forged and he's got reputable turbos, what's the worst that could happen from ebay intercoolers and pipes? Or couldn't he just get two gtr turbos http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130920120942 , a bov, wastegates, oil catch and maybe even get them reworked? Obviously he isn't looking for 650whp just a decent 450@7psi. On the custom turbo kit alone he wants to spend about 2k no install. It seems like it's feasible, especially with cyber Monday coming up. Basically a tt kit with used/new twin turbos and decent aluminium pipes/intercooler. 05 g35x 91k btw.is he in over his head?

Agree with the above. If you're trying to go cheap, why not find a used Vortech kit? In the US they go for $2500-ish used all the time. With the pulley upgrade people manage ~415whp all day.

Only because a used vortech kit goes for $2500, the links I posted show 3 really decent turbos under $1100 that can easily make 500hp, two of the turbos of a gtr. I just want to go cheap on the piping because it seems be the one thing I can't find sold separately. But i mean two gtr turbos should run decent?

Turbos are so much more involved than a supercharger. You have to get oil feed and drain, water lines, manifolds, down pipes, charge pipes; it goes on forever. A supercharger is bolt on, has oil in it, just makes way more sense. And yeah the turbos are $1100, and you won't need much boost, but I can promise you that in order to get those turbos mounted and the car started, you're going to be WELL over $2500. Your car (or your friends...), you do what you want. It just makes more sense to go supercharger on a car that will be driven / that has a budget. 400whp is plenty for a daily street car. Pick you poison my friend.

PS: Didn't really answer your question, but piping is piping. I personally wouldn't drop hundreds on "name brand" charge pipes, because they all do the same thing. The pipe itself won't leak, its the couplers and what-not that will leak. I run eBay test pipes because I don't see the point in spending $150 on some flanges and a bent tube that I can buy for $70.

To be honest I was hoping something like, "piping can always be reinforced, turbo can be bought separate, rebuilt professionally. It'll be good for 450." Gonna spend all I have saved for Cyber Monday.

I think you will just be setting yourself up for problems down the road. I wouldn't do it if I were you

Answer me this since I can't find it. If I get a built importspartspro built short block that's good for 650hp, can I just slap on my existing oem parts to make it a long block without any major issues (91k miles) hoping to get 500whp dd. And with a new built short block am I basically at 0 miles again? Obviously talking engine only on that question though.

there are guys here with 400whp boosted over 80k miles, do some more DD and figure out what it is you want.

540 sounds all fun and games but it's going to cost you over 20k to get there.
