Gas Millage

Gas Millage
Hey guys. I have a 2006 G35 Automatic Coupe & I average out about 200 or so miles per full tank fill up. I wanted to know if this is normal? I've done a tune up on it about a month ago. Is there something I should check? I also just want to know a few ways to save gas because at this time, money is tight. Your answers are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

What kind of real gas millage are you getting? Miles per tank is not a helpful measure of economy because people fill up at different fuel levels and almost no fuel tanks are perfectly symmetrical from top to bottom, so the gauge won't always move from top to bottom in a linear fashion as the fuel depletes.
Measure your fuel economy on a single tank of gas by going to the gas station and filling up until the pump shuts off. Don't top off the tank (Topping off is generally bad to do anyways as damage to the charcoal canister in the vehicles emission control system). Reset your trip-odometer and drive the car around normally until it's time to fill up. When it's time to fill up, again only fill the car until the pump shuts off (do not top off) and take note of how many gallons of fuel went into the tank to fill it back up and divide the number of miles traveled on the trip-odometer by the number of gallons it took to fill it back up. This will yield your miles-per-gallon for the last tank of gas.
To try to increase the accuracy a bit, try (if possible) to fill up at the same gas station and same pump both times during your measurement interval.
2WD G35's should get somewhere around 18-24 MPG combined city/highway driving if you're not driving around like a mad-man/woman all the time and not constantly sitting in stop and go traffic.
