the stock bose speakers probably arent going to sound very good on anything but the stock bose amp.

Does anyone have access to the specifications of the bose system (speakers)? The car manual is useless...

The speakers sound fine with an aftermarket amp of any kind. They are not the old school 'amp on speaker' setup blose used to use. Given that, they are not great speaks. They are just run of the mill paper drivers and some gerry set of tweats in the front. If you are just looking to do the system one piece at a time you fine. But the are not the end all be all speaker.

Well, I want to ensure that they are compatable. Something to the effect of 4ohms? At the moment, I do not want to spend more money on eight speakers. I have already spent $1,100 for the W200. Plus I will land up spending $200 for the custom install for the alpine centre channel speaker in the empty navagaion area. Then I am looking at $500 for the Alpine amp and centre channel speaker.

Thank you.

Well, the speakers ohm rating is kinda up for debate. I've driven them in parallel using a low-end alpine amp. If they were 2 ohm the amp would have seen a 1 ohm load and thermal shut down. It didn't. But some people claim they are 2 ohm speaks. Great, I've got the badest, kick *** $200 alpine amp in the world. Either way, the HU should be able to drive them.

Thank you for your response. According to the fellows at CarTunes, I need the MRA-F350 Theater Amplifier to power the additional Alpine center channel speaker (DTS 5.1). Currently, the W200 drives the speakers albeit, maximum volume is not very loud. With the windows down, I pretty much have to max out the volume (35). Adding the center channel speaker, will require an amp.

Hell, I don't know. I just don't want the fellows at CarTunes tearing my car apart and telling me that I need to yank out all my speakers...

did you maintain use of the steering wheel controls with your W200 install? If so, what interface did you use?
Best,
Chris

No. The device that you and I keep hearing about does not work. Currently, I cannot find a device that allows the use of the steering controls. That is with the W200.
