Need Audio help!! I made a mistake!

Hello, Firstly, sorry for posting again to some of you who read this in my other thread. Maybe someone will read this that can answer a few questions.

Ok so... I bought a dual 10" enclosure www.zenclosures.com the custom one for the coupe... turns out it only has .8 cubic feet of space, I didnt realize it was so small. I also bought a 1000/1 JL Audio Amp and 2x JL Audio 10w6v2 subwoofers which require .65 cubic feet EACH for a sealed enclosure, so... im missing .5 cubic feet for my enclosure. Now this .5 cubic feet, honestly how big of a difference is this going to make in sound? and also I heard that if an enclosure is too small, you can stuff it with something to compensate..(does this work? Doesnt seem to make sense, take away space would make up for lost space..) Thanks for any help

The problem is that you will blow subs left and right. You may try adding polyfill to the inside of box, but .5 cubic feet is a big diff.
Did you buy these from an ath. JL dealer? Please tell me you didn't buy the JL Audio stuff from the net.

Fill them with a decent amount of poly-fill (pillow stuffing) and you should be fine. I was an installer for years and it does work as long as you have enough power. Put about a bag in in for each sub. It slows the sound waves a tiny bit and makes the sub sound like it is in a larger enclosure. I have a 0.85cu ft box with one MTX 7500 series 12" in my car and with 1500 watts and poly fill it still hits the deep notes just fine.

Good luck.

Hell be fine with a bit of Polyfill. Not the best way, but he already has the box.

What difference would it make if he bought it from a dealer or not? He already left his warranty behind.

YOU SHOULD BE FINE. You have plenty of power for the subs but the DB won't go as low as they would have if you had a larger box. I have one of Mike's boxes and it is great quality.

Hopefully you purchased the subs and amp from a decent shop, who'll warranty any blown voice coils or other damages that could naturally occur.
Good Luck

Exactly!!! Always buy from a place who can provide you with a warranty.
Common sense.

Being a business owner myself, I agree 110%, although JLs warranty policy on their products just plain sucks.

So buy from an authorized reseller so that you can abuse the warranty? Puttin the subs in boxes that are too small is considered abuse, and not a manufacturers defect, so why should they have to warranty that product. Suggesting he should buy from an authorized retailer, but not telling him to buy a correctly sized box sounds a little iffy to me
