Just different strokes. For the money it costs (against what's usually spent on 'mods') it's worth it to me. Easier to remove and replace the detector in the same spot every time. It's just below the edge of the tint in mine.. see no prob there, it's an 8500 anyway, so low profile. Does not affect my view.
It's illegal now in CA to have anything suction cupped to the window, but that's a minor one for me as it's too hard to see there anyway.
I like the mirror mount as much as others don't.. no big deal, whatever floats your boat.

I just got this setup. It was the best $35 I have spent on the car. works great. looks great not having the cord drapped over the dash. I really am impressed with it all.

Just ordered an invisicord and Mike's mount. My first two mods only cost me $35 shipped

I hardwired my 8500 in my previous car, a Maxima. Bought a phone cord at Radio Shack for a couple bucks, and soldered it in. I guess this thing makes it a little easier.

And reversible... Dealers can't erroneously blame any hardwiring for manufacturing defects if they can't see it.

Just installed mine. Looks great. I'll vouch the pink/black has been replaced with a brown wire on my 07.

Just wanted to confirm. Are the Invisicord instructions for the 2007 G35 the same as the instructions for older G35s? I thought someone had mentioned that they are different, but not sure, since the manual in the Invisicord web site doesn't distinguish between 2007 G35 and earlier model years.

Escort came out with a new radar detector, the Passport 9500i (http://www.escortradar.com/9500i.htm). Seems pretty interesting.
Anyway, looks like the 9500i and the 8500 X50 use the same coiled smartcord, as indicated in Escort's accessories page (http://www.escortradar.com/shop.htm). Is it safe to assume that since they take the same Escort smartcord, that the 8500 X50 Invisicord ought to work just as well for the 9500i?

If you have brown, black, and black/red, then the brown replaces the black/pink in the directions currently. I have my picture gallery up for those pics sent to me by customers. Please look at the Infiniti pics, and where the picture shows the pink/black on the end, my guess is that on the 2007, that end wire is now brown.

are the Invisicord and Escort Smart Wire Direct Cord (https://www.escortradar.com/cp/cgi-b...artcord_direct) the same thing?

baylorsig,

They are not the same. Invisicord taps into the mirror connector for power and the escort direct wire has to be tapped into existing power, common place at the fusebox but also has the extra monitoring LEDs.

Yo man, you might want to change your e-mail address over to Comcast email address now. I did your transition over to Comcast, we dropped alot of Adelphia e-mail accounts in the process. Hope you weren't one of them.

To the OP, thanks for this wonderful write up! I didn't have a connector that would fit, but I ended up making my own since the stores were all closed. Been thinking about really hardwiring it in though...
