bad sub

I bought a 10w6v2 from sonomax audio on ebay and only worked a couple of days after installation.
Took it to cartoys, and we determined the problem is somewhere in the housing where the speaker wires are connected on the sub. The sub is not blown, just something loose or not working properly as you can tap the connector housing and the sub will barely come to life.
I'm trying to get a return on this. If something happens where they don't accept returns, was hoping someone here may have experienced this problem or know of a fix.
Cartoys won't try to fix it as they don't want to be liable.

thanks,

the only fix to bge honest, is to send it to JL, pay for hte fix, wait a long time, and get it back hopefully...

i always try to advice my customers NOT to buy subs and speakres from Ebay, as those are the things that most commonly fail, and if they do, the savings you had going can evaporate really quickly...

good luck...i dont really know of too many ebay vendors offering real warranty...but you never know...

hehe, that's exactly what the guy a cartoys said. I now agree with him. Gonna buy one locally if I can get this returned.

Send it back to JL Audio though. I've had a lot of JL AUdio equipment un past vehicles. Did'nt have a lot of problems but when I did (burnt my 1000/1) I sent it back and they fixed it. As long as the person you brought it from was an authorized dealer or someone that brought it from an origin of an authorized dealer you should be all set.

ok heres the kicker to that, JL only sells through authorized dealers and DO NOT sell on ebay, in fact they will not honor any warranty if bought through ebay

Ive bought from sonomax before, they're pretty legit. BUT my only complaint which is probably one of the most important is that when they ship stuff, there isnt a shipping box in addition to the mfg original box. It's just the bare mfg box so my product got beat up pretty bad when it arrived, good thing it worked. And when my phoneix gold amp from a while back came it had a shipping box w/ it, but thats about it, no stryrofoam or anything. THeir shipping methods SUCK!..whihc might be the cause of your lose wiring. SOrry this doesnt help what you were originally asking for though...

btw, i've sent a sub back to JL before, just had to pay for shippng ~$25, but it took around 6wks. to get back to me.

^^^ You will most likely have to pay Non-Warranty repair costs. The MSRP on repair for a 10W6v2 is $172 (2006 JL Audio price book).

+3^ you exactly described their shipping method and it does suck.

I'm trying to get them to take it back and issue a refund. They said they will take it back and ship it to JL for me, then ship it back to me...total process, prob a month or 2.
This is unacceptable to me. They say nothing about no warranty or retunrs on their ebay page.
2 days before they shipped it to me, I asked for a refund because it had been 3 weeks since I ordered it.
If I don't get a refund, I'm the type of person who will spend the time and money and post on ebay along side of every one of their products and make my headline read; "BEWARE!!!DO NOT BUY FROM SONOMAX AUDIO"
and in the description of my so called product that I would be selling, tell my experience with them.
I'm sure ebay will take my listings down, but oh well.
If I do that, I will make sure to post some links on here for your enjoyment.

well sonomax filed a claim with fedex and supposedley fedex is going to come to mu house to inspect the box and the sub???
I feel like sonomax are getting me involved in some shady business.
feel like kharma is gonna come back and bite me if fedex takes the hit on this. i dunno. just gonna play it out and see what happens

Yeah that sucks.
Did you pay via paypal? Maybe you should file a claim w/ paypal as well. They might be able to help get your money back.

Also try calling JL, they usually just refer you to a local rep and have them help you ship it. LAST thing i'd do is ship it back to sonomax to have them ship it to JL because that is crap since when they sell their JL stuff, they scratch the serial off. There is no way JL warrants products coming straight from sonomax's office.
