Help! Auto AC on, radio light off.

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble with my center console. For some reason my Auto AC is turned on automatically and the display on the radio isn't working. All the buttons on the center console aren't working but I can still control my stock radio with my steering wheel. I also can't turn off the AC or air cause none of the buttons are working. I have not done any mods recently and I'm thinking the connectors are going bad. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

holy crap, i thought my G was the only posessed one. Its been happenning to me on and off for a few months. About 3 times a week, right after i start my car the radio will shut off for 2 seconds and go back on. But sometimes the A/C turns itself on to whatever degrees and goes on "AUTO" for like 5-10 minutes while the radio lights shut off and i cant turn it off (no buttons work) and then it goes away after a while by itself. It happens REALLY rarely but when it does, it will do it like twice a day and then go away for a month or so. Id there a TSB on it or something? It drives me crazy, I usually end up smacking my radio but it never works.

Sounds like a bad fuse. I had the same problem last year when my A/C would go crazy and no lights inside the car. Replaced the fuse and it was back to normal.

i had the same problem not too long ago.

where i was driving and all of a sudden everything in the center console just shut off. i tried turning it on but it wouldnt turn on. all of a sudden the display shows up, the music plays, but the buttons were frozen. couldnt change track/stations or nothing. i just left it until i was able to park. shut off the engine and left. came back 30 mins, turned my engine on and bam, everything was functioning perfectly.

moral of the story
dont play too much loud music......

I am having the same problem...started a month or so ago

Just as described above...

Radio display out
AC to auto (usually)
Steering Wheel controls still work
All other center console illumination works
AC and radio controls don't work

Fixes itself whenever it feels like it

Might work fine for a week, or break a few times a day

I have an '03 AT Sedan

Here is exactly what you should do, this is becoming a very common problem and I see it alot at Inskip Infiniti where I work.

1st Check the fuse panel under your battery cover

2nd it could be your radio

3rd it could be your circuit board behind your radio

4th it could be your auto amplifier (displays the heat etc.)

We had two G35 sedans here yesterday both cars had the auto ac on stuck on high and the radio's did not power up at all. The tech replaced the circuit board behind the radio and still the same problem. Then we replaced the auto amp display and still the same problem. So last but not least put another radio in the car and good as new. The second G35 sedan which had the same problem we just replaced the radio and everything worked fine as well. I would check the fuse first and then repair or replace the radio and your car should resume back to normal. hope this help!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't look like its the fuse. I called the dealer and since I'm out of warranty they said mostly likely it would cost around $600 since its probably the circuit board. I can get a stock radio for $200 bucks wouldn't that fix the problem?

Me too...

It happened year ago on a weekend, dealer was closed so I simply
unplugged the battery and and everything went back to normal and on the Monday went to dealer and they said if it happens again come back, well I went back but 1 year later (today)and now there is no more guanrantee and they say they will change the radio for 200$ and if that is not it they will change the circuit board 600$, I'm pi*&%$,as hell and I put a call into Infiniti but will not hold my breath,,

Thanks for listening guys

This is a known problem with a published TSB...

Infiniti was replacing audio fininshers as a courtesy at one point...

My car is a 2003.0 and has 116K miles. No more warranty. I don't think I am going to pay $600-$800 for a new circuit board and/or radio.

So far, disconnecting the battery has not worked for me. This has been going on a couple months and is very annoying.

I don't really want to do a DD conversion...

Ideas?

It seems to be a problem with the radio and my local garage tell me
they can get the refurbished one for 100$ plus labor to swap so
might go that route as it seems the cheapest way to go, I don't
want to spend $$$$$ to change the Bose system. Will call Clarion
Canada and see what they have to say about this..

that stock radio seems so crappy and troublesome, yet it is so expensive to replace it with an aftermarket....

Battery disconnect stopped working..

Brought it to a high end radio guy and basically he repaired the circuit
board for 250$ but now I get the cd error thing which I never got before,
I will change out the radio next, no rush though just happy to
have my centre stack working properly again..so far
