Well I am finally doing it..

Well guys I finally made up my mind. The coupe is getting ripped apart. I was thinking about it all winter and wanted to make sure I found a shop I trusted and I finally got most of it figured out.

So far here is early report..(nothing is 100% picked as of yet because I am not sure on what brands I am going with)

Dynamat everywhere of course

7" touchscreen in dash w/dd conversion

Car puter mounted in top cubby on passenger side (aopen minipc) I plan on researching them this week. If I dont like it I may go with a little larger setup and put it in the trunk.

jl mids/highs (not sure yet, dls is an option but jl seems decent for the price?)
(2) jl 12w1's (mounted in the 4080 boxes 1 on each side)

5ch amp 50-75x4 + 400-500x1

I would like to get (2) 12" jl TW5 Thin-Line Subwoofers but it seems they are not due out for a while :/

Any suggestions? I plan on picking up all of the hardware this week. I went with a pretty basic system so should hopefully go smoothly.

The two 12s are going to overpower your 6.5s with 50-75w going to them. I only have one 10 and it overpowers mine.

If you're looking for a lot of boom, then go with that setup. If you want a clean system that hits, go with just one sub. The money you would have spent on the 2nd sub and box can go into a better sub or an eq or your pocket.

Also, if you decide you want to add the second sub it only takes a few feet of speaker wire to add it to your system.

Hey Rus, thanks for the reply. this is why I wanted to post here to get some ideas. I was on the fence between (1) 10" or (2) 10's or 12's. I would think if i went with (2) 12" w1's with a 500x1 they would probably wont hit as hard as your (1) 10w6 with a 500x1? I am looking for the clean sound, dont need it loud enough to hear 4 blocks away but loud enough that it makes sense of the money I am dumping in.

You sound like you have the same wattage I was looking for but with a different sub setup, would you say your happy with your setup? If you were changing it up what would you add/remove?

Do you have pictures of your setup around somewhere so I can check it out? I kind of need to pick out what I am going with this week because I plan on dropping off my car while I leave for vegas this month this way when I come back it should be just about done if not done completely.

I'm happy with my setup. I was expecting a little more from 500watts but I also had to remember I'm only pushing one 10". My previous system was 2 12s with 300 going to each so it hit a little harder, but not much.

If you're looking for simple & clean I'd go with one good 10 or 12 and save some trunk space and maybe some $$.

I'm perfectly happy with my one 10" 10w6v2, powered by a 500/1.

Check the links in my sig for pics and info about my audio system, and my carPC setup. More or less, it's pretty similiar to what you want to go with.

get a bigger amp for the front components. I used to think 50-75wpc was perfect for the front stage until I recently installed a 150wpc amp for my front components. The difference is amazing.

edit that thought. use the 75wpc x 4 portion of the amp for the front stage and bi-amp the components. run the rear speakers off the deck power and 400w to the sub, that should sound pretty good.

I still havent picked what speakers/amps I am going with. I was given a general setup idea just to get a general price range. I am supposed to go back wednesday and figure out all the details but I am still on the fence. I wish jl had those thinlines out already!
