I would have thought that too, but it seems to bounce off the window because I pick up signals from the rear as well.

r there any owners here from florida that have both the radar and a 'sunpass'? i dont kno if the RD might block the signals to the sunpass on the highway, i dont want a ticket for going thru the sunpass lane on the highway

No. There is no interference, your sunpass will work fine. Once in a while at certain toll booths (e.g. the on-ramp one off Southern Blvd in WPB) the laser detector will go off but that's it.

Regarding the original topic, however, here's my review of my countermeasures which cover both radar detection and laser jamming: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/65590-escort-zr3-8500-x50-install-review.html.

On a 110 mile trip this weekend from Miami to Naples I had two laser jamming sessions and at least eight Ka radar encounters, all in Collier County on Alligator Alley (I-75). The laser jams were great. The cop tried locking on and I jammed him in the front. Then before I could temporarily turn off the jammer, I started jamming from the rear as the cop tried to reacquire a lock on my vehicle to no avail!

One final note, I never understood the big deal about the arrows on the V1; regardless of where the bogey is coming from, you're going to slow down, so what's the difference? Plus, V1 has no laser jamming upgrade like Escort does.

Many of us thought the same thing about the V1's arrows. Once you have them it's pretty hard to go back. Yes you will slow down no matter what, but when you know where the radar source is coming from you can quickly find where it's coming from. Otherwise you are simply looking in front, behind, etc.

Unfortunately for us Virginians, our fears have finally come to fruition. Someone gratiously posted a video showing proof positive that VA State Police now have Spectre IV's installed and operational. I love my V1, but I bit the bullet and ordered a Bel STi which is the only detector that cannot be detected by any RDD including the venerable Spectre III and IV. The V1 is only detectable from 166ft to around 400ft depending on which firmware revision is installed. The bad thing I took from the video was that this particular LEO did not have radar in his vehicle. He had VASCAR and the Spectre IV and the video was taken in Northern VA. At least Bel finally fixed the 33.8ghz bug.

guysoflidar also posted their off axis testing showing the V1's complete superiority off axis. The next best detector was the Escort X50 which performed pretty good. I would like to see the off axis testing of the STi with the new firmware that fixed the 33.8ghz problem.

Remember the First Rule of Italian Driving, "What'sa behind you, don'ta matter".

Anyone remember which movie that's from?
The Valentine One is the only radar/laser detector with a front and rear antenna to detect radar. Every other detector is lacking in rear radar detection because Valentine Research has the patent on the arrows and more than one radar antenna in a single radar/laser detector.

This was the last rear radar detection test that was done and they haven't done another one since then because no radar detector can even come close to the V1 because of the patent. Notice how the V1 beats all of the others by over 2 miles in rear Ka band detection and Ka band is the hardest band to detect.

V1 is worth every penny, the directional arrows saved me one time on the highway.

I decided to add a Bel STi to my arsenal since VA State Police now have 50 Spectre IV's up and running and more on the way. In comparison to my V1 it's been both good and bad. First, the Bel is the King of 35.5 Ka. I was able to make numerous runs against stationary 35.5 Ka with the STi and my V1 v3.826. While not a huge advantage, it notified me anywhere from 100ft to 300ft sooner. K band is another story. The V1 dominated in this category, especially when I tried some off axis testing. The arrows are extremely beneficial on the V1. I ran across Ka yesterday and found myself looking everywhere and I had no idea where the source was coming from. I hooked my V1 up and the arrow pointed to the side. I took a quick drive down the road and sure enough, I found the LEO. The STi has very few false alarms even on highway mode. Pretty astonishing in the DC suburbs. The V1 is the best all around detector period. Nobody comes close in the laser department. It's just a matter of stealth. I have no idea on which one I'm going to stick with. A few weeks ago, a Spectre was seen and video taken of the State Troopers car in the NOVA area.

Beltronics BEL RX65 is the best rated by almost everyone who tests them.

If you need stealth because they are illegal where you live get the Bell STi.

Most Beltronics and Escort detectors are rated very high.

For those of you who have them hardwired to your rear view mirror using invisicord and mikes mount or the stock mounts is it difficult at all to remove your detector quickly and hide it somewhere if you were to get pulled over? Thats the only thing im worried about

while its not illegal here in jersey I feel like it wouldnt help my cause if the cop peeped it while deciding whether to give me a ticket or not and being 17 tickets would suck

Not difficult at all. I have the X50+invisicord+mike's mount and all I have to do is push the release button and unplug the cord from the detector. Can be done within 5 seconds.
