Both are good....

I like the Garmin on the Kenwood.

But i like the interface on the pioneer.

Z2 is 880

7100 is 700.

The 7100 is an easier install, no vss wire (uses satellites), ebrake ground!

The z2 is harder to drive and watch videos.

I don't know where you are getting your prices, but those are way lower than I can get. Are those used prices? As far as it being trouble to watch videos while driving, NO SH*T. WTF, I think it's absolutely fuvking rediculous to try and watch a video and drive down the highway. If you want to drive with your head up your azz and kill yourself fine, but you are endangering the lives of others and one day those others might be me on a family vacation. Don't take it too personal, but surely you understand why these manufacturers don't want you watching a video while driving. As far as a vote I'm going for the Kenwood myself so I guess that is what I prefer.

Prices arent fishy, thats what i get them through work. We sell a ton of those and the manufacture has an accommodation program, i just dont know if the pioneers worth the extra 2bills.

And ive owned plenty dvd players and ive had them all working while i drive. i dont watch it when im moving i can enjoy the movie just fine while listening to it, the movie part is mainly for passengers/wow factor.

Pioneer seems to have focused more on Fast and Furious flash than real SQ IMO. Kenwood FTW!

I've been looking at these units too. avic411.com has been an interesting place to read up on the pioneer units. They appear to have a much bigger customer base than kenwood. However, several things concern me with the pioneer unit: complaints about poor navigation routing, complaints about very slow navigation rerouting, complaints about units frequently locking up (apprently due to overheating), complaints about poor customer service from pioneer. The pioneer unit, however, can be updated by the end user by burning a patch to a cd, so its possible some of these issues could improve.

On the other hand, kenwood has a flash based navigation system from garmin and has the reputation of being both accurate and fast. I've read complaints about its user interface being non-intuitive or inefficient, but most users seem to think its just a matter of getting used to it. The kenwood apparently can not be patched or updated by the end user (except for the navigation maps, poi, etc...), so for the interface/software, what you see is what you get.

I'm personally leaning towards the kenwood due to vastly fewer complaints I've read about the product and the known factor of garmin doing the navigation. It doesn't hurt that its cheaper, but neither unit is exactly cheap.

That $700 price on the kenwood sure is interesting. If anybody has any links to buying the kenwood for <$1K I'd sure be intersted. $1k is the lowest I've seen: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...d+DNX7100.html

Fishy still, thats fine, work for a car audio shop, their dealer accommodation price is 50% off of retail and 7dollars shipping. I also get the alpine pdx amps for $320 pdx1.100 and $280 for the pdx4.150. All jl audio stuff is 65% off of msrp. Ive already bought my Focal gear for an amazing price too.

NEITHER! Gogogo Alpine IVA-205! No better HU for ipod interface/search function. Downloadable backrounds, 3 pre-amp outputs and pulsetouch! ~_^ The various settings are just phenominal too. Plus if you cant afford a Bluetooth/Navi you can always buy those and install later ^^

Can you keep the steering wheel control with the kenwood like the avic?

I have the Kenwood DNX7100. The Garmin nav is one of the best navigation systems out there (the graphics are not as detailed as the Pioneer Z2, but accuracy and speed of the system is top notch). I also had a steering wheel control modual installed so I can use my steering wheel controls.

Thanks for your input guys. I really wanted the kenwood, but i waited a little too long so the accommodation program ended on 9/31 I ordered my avicz2 instead, along with 2 focal amps 2 focal subs and 4 focal speakers. it should sound nice. and for those who think its fishy when i recieve the avic ill copy my receipt pioneer gives me for u.

also my friend works at best buy and now they have the accommodation for kenwood, so if you dont believe me have them look up the price in "tool kit"
