Blitzsafe antenna install-beneath rear shelf

I installed the antenna underneath the rear shelf on my coupe. Just removed the rear seat latch cover and two screws holding the shelf. Inserted the antenna under the composite shelf, leveled it till the magnet grabbed the metal structure. Routed the wire back to my OEM SAT receiver in the trunk. No drop outs and no black bumps on the shelf.

This is interesting, I would never get satellite radio, but only due to the fact that I cannot stand the antenna . . .I'm thinking If I remove the OEM subwoofer in my sedan, I could mount it under the grille and route it to the alpine XM receiver module . . . so no drop of signal whatsoever huh? and what is the rule on those antennas . . . behind tint, under metal? what are the restrictions?

Re: Blitzsafe antenna install-beneath rear shelf

I don't have the Bose system so the 6x9 openings are still free. But the Blitzsafe was so small that I could just slip it under the cover. I don't have any tint on the rear window. I'm not sure how the sedan is set up but the service manual didn't make any distinction between the cars. The rear parcel shelf disassembly only had one drawing. I hated the OEM antenna 'cause it was so bulky and I didn't want it outside on the roof either.

I had metallic tint on my window before getting the XM. There was quite a bit of reception problems when I tried it on the rear deck. I was using it a Terk XM3 on the trunk for a while and just a couple of weeks ago, I moved it to the front dash under the windshield which has no tint and I'm getting great reception.
