Question GPS Recommendations?

So I don't have the built-in GPS functionality on my '04 G35 and I am now in the market for one. I'm curious to know if any of you guys/gals have come across any that you would recommend or ones possibly that your friends would recommend. I'd like to keep it under $500. If there is built-in FM traffic detection that would be nice. Other options such as bluetooth connectivity are not that important. I've researched some online and read many reviews but ultimately wanted to consult my good buddies here on 35drriver

Cheers!

well, it depends if you want dd, or external. I'm waiting to save up a little to get the pioneer avic d3 installed with a back up camera and the pac-nis steering wheel control for the ipod. If it's purely for nav and you don't need the additional dvd, music, etc... external would be a better choice. Although from what I know, if you want traffic, you'll have to pay extra... I may be wrong though... As goes for external recommendations, I hear the Garmin Nuvi 660's pretty good. Got a friend who uses it... Shop around and you can find one barely under $500.00

best buy will have the 660 for 399 on Black Friday. I'm getting in line for one. There's a thread on here where a member showed how to do a pretty good install in the cubby and also ran power to it. Pretty interesting isn't it.

Can't go wrong with the Nuvi series. I know that black friday is out and there are some crazy deals, and unfortunately the store I work at can't match those prices.

If any of you would like to support a fellow G owner's store, check us out at www.gpscity.com. PM me if you have have a unit in mind and I will get you our absolute best pricing on it.

Holy crap some of the black friday deals are RIDICULOUS. I just showed Canadian the 'insiders' list. Someone must be giving out handies over at Garmin corporate for these things...

But hey, everyone needs to mount them, right? I'd rather do that

would you hapen to have a treo phone? i got the tomtom software and usa and canada map (free, by searchin) - it takes up 1 gig on a 2 gig card - got music and files on the other gig with room to spare. i pared it with a holux bluetooth gps receiver ($30) that stays in the center console and gets full signal. it is very accurate and the treo screen is about the size of the average gps, so it is easy to read... heres a review
