4080 box help

I was looking into purchasing a 4080 enclosure. I was wondering if i should go with a 10, or a 12. I know a bunch of people have gotten them, so i was kinda hoping for some information on experience. I read 25 threads, and got mixed reviews. I have a kicker 750.1 amp that i will power with. I will probably end up adding a second box later on, but just for now ill put a drivers side in. Also, should i get a W6, or W3, and at what ohm? THanks for the help.

What car do you have? Only a 10 will fit in the coupe box.

I have a 10w5v2 in a 4080 box, powered by a JL Audio 500.1 More than enough bass for me, and I am very happy with the quality of the box itself.

Well, looks like i am getting a 10! haha. I have a coupe, didnt know that they only came that size.

And your happy with just the 1? I think 1 will be fine since im not looking to doa whole audio swap. Did anyone disconnect the back bose in the rear deck? Those things are terrible!

Also, any reason i should get the W6 over the W3? And what ohm? I have a kicker 750 powering it(wahtever sub i get)

Has anyone made a box for a 12 or will it physically not fit?

I just dont think they made a box for a 12" sub for the coupe. Probably just not enough room.

I am looking at getting this sub for my drivers side, but not sure if it will fit or if the box is made for it.

I started with a single driver side 4080 box and the 10w6 in the link above (wired in parallel for a 2 ohm mono load) driven by the 250 watt sub channel of a JL 500/5 amp. It sounded great. But I added another box on the passenger side with another 10w6 powered by a 1000 watt Alpine PDX-1.1000 and it hits a lot harder, as it should.

For most people a single 10 will work fine. The sub you get partially depends on the amp you go with. You want them to be compatible. I have seen a 10w3 used and the owner was very pleased with the sound.

Since you're going to be doing some wiring in the trunk, no is the time to consider replacing the Bose amp and speakers with something better. A multichannel amp, such as a JL 500/5, will work great in tht application.

As to your question about disconnecting the rear 6x9's, you should disconnect them and consider removing them. I removed mine to allow more bass into the cabin.

Wow, thank you for the nice reply. You pretty much answered my question. It looks like im going to go with the W6 for the drivers side now, and have them run a wire to the passenger side as well. Ill add the passenger side later on. You talked about replacing the speakers, but did you mean inside of the car? I want to take out the back speakers in the deck, but what did you fill them with? Ill probably piece it out and replace different things as time goes on, but just want to mainly add the sub now. As far as the amp, i have this one already.

Basically, i am looking to keep everything stock now, disconnect and possibly take out the speakers in the rear deck, and add the W6 i showed in a couple posts up, in a drivers side 4080 box. That will all work, correct?

Yes, I meant replacing your inside speakers with better ones. You'll need an amp for them too though.

I simply removed the rear 6x9's. I dodn't put anything in their place. There are just holes there now.

I see...How does it look with the holes? Did you keep the covers there? Also, will that sub work ok with that amp? THanks for the help by the way. NEED bass soon! haha

The Bose covers are still on, so it looks stock on the inside.

The 10w6 should work fine with that amp if you run it in parallel to have a 2 ohm load. You'll have to change that to an 8 ohn load if you add another sub.

And the 12" sedan box only fits sedans without the full size spare.
