Quote: I have the Kenwood KNA-G510 navi module (made by Garmin) that I'm not willing to gove up. I haven't seriously thought about changing HU's but if I do, I want a Kenwood with better iPod control, and I don't know what those are right now.

The latest Crutchfield catalog offers the DDX7019 for $999 and a package with the KNA-G510 for another $100.
The new headunits with navigation HAVE the equivalent of the KNA-G510 built in them. Along with that you get the adujustable button and display colors.

The 8120 is the Excellon Nav model with 2 year warranty, Built-in Parrot Blutooth and 5v pre out over the 7120.

Quote: So you like the unit as a whole, but the ipod config is slow? I dont need the nav, so would you still go with that unit?
The new Ipod control is extemely fast. it works allot like the current nav model, the 7100 in that you just plug a cable into it (no external coverter box).

the improvements are the button layout and interface in genearal are more intuitive.

If you just need ipod and good sound but no nav. check out the DDx-812. It has all of the features of the 8120 without the NAV. (I'll add it to the list in my first post)

hope this helps

Thank you sir! I am now on my way to researching the unit. Do you sell them? Or are you just recommending them?

Glad I could help, yes I'm just bringing these units to you guys attention. The 8120 in particular since it partners with the big guns in mobil electronics, Garmin & Parrot. I sell all of the major brands though.

UPDATE: For those who want all of the top of the line features of the DNX-8120 but don't need NAV right now. Look at the DDX-812, it has all of the features of the 8120 without the nav. If you wan't nav in the future you can always plug in the garmin KNA-G520 add on unit. hope this helps
How come i cant find any info on the 812? Only the 712...

We received our DNX5120's last week so I had a few days to play with it. Very nice unit. Pretty much identical to the D3. I have them displayed next to each other and people cant tell the difference.

Who is "we"? Are you a reseller? I'm in the market for one, and I was going to order one online, but since your profile says that you're in San Francisco, I could drive up and get one. Send me a PM if you'd like a potential customer.

Until they see the price tag, right?

I'm making a joke, but the fact remains that the MSRP is $400 higher than the D3 is selling for. I know it's not fair to compare MSRP, but what is street? I'm going to get a double DIN nav system, and the D-3 was the top of my list. I'd prefer the Garmin nav, but $400 is a heck of a difference in price...
