After doing TONS of research on the ?'s re: the auto on headlights & how to change the settings, two methods emerged. 1. Go to the dealer & they can do it via the Consult or Consultant II & from this handheld device, they can alter the BCM or Body Control Module programming values & the auto on headlight is one of those values. Or method 2. If your car has a NAV system, you can apparently enter the NAV's diagnostic mode & alter the BCM settings there. This 2'nd idea seemed to have less validity behind it, until I did more research & found a WEB site, where someone had detailed info on how to enter the Diagnostic Mode for the NAV system on a Q45, with screen shots. Wow, there it was... A whole hidden area in the NAV system, that controls or tests MANY functions of the vehicles computer systems. Now the guy that made reference to this, but did not detail the method (not same as the one with the screen shots & Q directions), worked at an Infiniti dealer, & when calling my sales guys, (who will also try to find out for me) one of them knew about how to do it on the Q, & said it was for real & was suprised I was able to tell him how to do it, since he really knew & most people do not even know it exists, but he also did not know the method for the G35...........

So, I am wondering, does ANYONE know how to enter the Diagnostic Mode for the NAV system on the G35's?

there was a post a while back for entering the diagnostic
mode on the g35 sedan.

I tried it on the g35 coupe and it also worked.

however, I did not see any settings for bcm.

I don't remember off hand how to enter that mode but
search for it...

"Thought I'd share a simple self diagnostic for the navi that I got from my G35 Sedan Service Manual. Any one that has some issues with their navi will quickly show up on the S/D.
1/ Start the car 2/ innitiate the navi 3/ simultaneously push the D/N and the MAP buttons for 5 seconds 4/ follow instructions to determine if there are any probs and where they are. 5/ when finished, shut off engine, restart and drive for short distance to 'fix' navi to your location again.
This is strictly a DIAGNOSTIC procedure for info only and to be sure all the components are functioning properly within the system. Hope this helps. I've done it 3 times on mine (no probs) and works like a charm. Not Sure if this applies to Coupe Navi.

I replied to Randy's P/M this morning with the info. But for you guys: you simultaneously push the 'D/N' and 'Map' buttons for a few seconds and then follow the prompts. When your finished doing the diagnostic, push the 'Previous' button to return to normal modes.

that was trippy. I went through all the diagnostics. When I was done the clock said 0:00 and the map reflected me being in southern cali. I'm up here in the frisco bay area. For about 5 minutes that was pretty cool I got a tour of the LA map. It eventually went back to normal.

Hey Randy, I've found some more info on these diagnostic modes on our Navi's. I knew I'd seen it somewhere and there it was on F/A forum. Do a search on All forums for "Easter Eggs" (6 months I think). There's a fella with a Q over there that has done some research on these hidden modes and he may be able to shed some light on it for you. [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

It did that to me too, until it finally re-aquired a few satellites to talk to. It sticks you in LA near LAX airport. I'm in San Diego. It doesn't always do that.. only if you reset the location in diagnostic mode.
