AVElectronics Install Problem

AVElectronics Install Problem
So i got everything installed and running nicely but I ran into a problem during the install and I cannot figure out how or why. After everything was all said and done, the airbag light on my dash is blinking. Anyone know why this could be or how to remedy it. I did only what i needed to get the system all set up. Any help appreciated. Thanks for all those people that helped out. Have a good one - ROB

Hmmm Not sure on this one... I would suggest you swing by your dealer and have the OBD system checked with thier tool. They can at least get the error code and go from there. The cost may be nominal.
From what I know about the Air Bag lights on most cars - if it is blinking or on in error, than your airbags will not function as needed. You should get this checked asap, just in case.

Re: AVElectronics Install Problem
If you disconnect the wire harness attached to the glove box (yellow) while the battery is still connected your airbag light will go on and it will cost you almost $100 to get the dealer to clear it. There was a post on how to clear it yourself. I think it was the same as the ECU reset (key on off, pump pedal, etc). Whenever you do any electrical work and plan on disconnecting anything it's a good idea to lower the windows and disconnect the negative on your battery.

Re: AVElectronics Install Problem
so here is the catch with this. does clearing the air bag light just clear the light and avoid an airbag problem. or does this not matter because the blinking light is just a function of the install and the airbag would work anyways. thanks again for your help.

Re: AVElectronics Install Problem
the airbag will work. it just clears the code that caused the airbag light to start blinkin.
