Door Panel Rattle?

I sometimes experience a slight rattle/buzz from the plastic door panel near the door lock and window controls at certain bass frequencies. I have the door dynamatted and I have a MB Quart QSD216 midbass driver which creates a s#$tload of midbass that is the source of the rattle/buzz. Wondering if anyone else with aftermarket component speakers have experienced the same and what steps they have taken to eliminate the buzz. I've talked to my installers and they told me that if worse comes to worse, they can reopen the door panels and install foam blocks flush against the panels to eliminate the noise.

I have stock speakers but had the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they installed foam padding on all 4 doors. It stopped about 80% of the rattle I was getting.

I'm all stock and hear a rattle now almost everytime I hit a bump. This is the drivers side door. I'll keep you posted on developments as well as checking to see your progress.

Are you sure it's not your seatbelt hitting the door? Common problem. Also, does it only rattle when the window's open? Also a common problem with frameless doors on coupes.

Re: Door Panel Rattle?

My 04 sedan has a rattle on the passenger's side door panel. It only does this with the stereo on and when almost any base note hits. It stops when the stereo is off or turned way down. I am also experiencing a slight rattle in the instrument cluster area as well. Dealer of course claimed "Could not duplicate". Will have tech. take a ride with me when I go back.

I have the same problem with the original Bose Speaker. Hey, you take your car to the dealer that you bought the car, or can you take it to any Infinity dealer. ANd they put in the foam pad for free or they charge you.

THanks

Re: Door Panel Rattle?

I got my car in NY which is hundreds of miles from where I live. So I'm going to take it to a local dealer here and see what they can do for me for free. If not, I'll probably take it to my car audio shop and ask them if they can do something for free to fix the buzzing. Anyone who got this take care of at the dealership... was it for free????

Re: Door Panel Rattle?

Do you have to do this "post-install" or before you put in your door speakers. I imagine that if you put something in there, they'll say they won't fix it because you took it off and probably hosed up something. Hmmmmmm???? Mine doesn't rattle now, but maybe it will later.

I also had the same problem, it sounded like a screw was loose or something, so I called the dealership they obviously fixed something because I dont hear it anymore.

Re: Door Panel Rattle?

My door innards are completely stock, with stock speakers.
So there is no warranty issue.

I had rattle after 10k. A screw inside door became loose. They retightened and applied lock tight. No problems since.

since they are aftermarket speakers, it might be the adapters they used to connect to the MB Quart mids. They might have become unfastened and are now rattling against the speaker and the door panel when you hit the bass notes. Make sure that the wiring is zip-tied and taped down so there is no chance of it causing the rattle.

If ater securing this, the rattle continues then it might be a loos screw or some additional foam required as mentioned above.
