Could someone point me to the DIY on removing the stereo? I have to replace mine due to the infamous stereo going dead-a/c being stuck on auto and stereo only working from the steering wheel.

I've looked around the thread on removing this and unable to locate.

The video on this is very nice. However it shows an 03-04 and I have an 05. I dont have the side pockets with cigarette lighters. Im just trying to get to the back of the cigarette lighter in the popout tray. Do I still need to remove the plastic under the steering wheel or can I just get in my car and pop the shift **** off, then pop the center console with ashtray right out???

 

to get to the back of the cigarette tray you need to remove the ***/shifter and pop out the center console. if you've already fixed this problem, i just want to know if you had issues with the stereo not displaying anything, even thought it may work? that's the problem i'm having.
