ERRrrr Im so Pissed off about capacitor
ERRrrr Im so Pissed off about capacitor
ok so those who know me i re routed so now i use all 4guages wires for my amp and ground wire for the capacitor...the lights on the cap seem to be working the same but damn lights are still dimming i talked to several people and they said capacitor doesnt stop lights from dimming it jus helps your battery and when i bought the cap i read everysite said cap is used for if ur lights dim etc...i wish i can take pic and post it so it be easier to see whats going on but my camera is broken
any1 came across this please help me thanks in advance..

You might need to upgrade the battery and the big 3 ground wires. It may be a situation where your amp is simply drawing too much power and an HO alternator is your only solution. Your current alternator or regulator may not be functioning properly too.
I am new to the Infiniti, so not sure all of the Specs, but have been around the block with the stereos for 2o years now. Long and short, capacitors will store power for peak draws. They should help with dimming, but they also need to draw and store power first.
Sounds to me like you are still drawing too many amps and need a HO Alternator

Yeah if you're hitting strong bass constantly, your lights will dim. Capacitors are like water towers. They store electricity during off peak loads like water towers store water during off peak hours. When there's a rush of water need, the water tower has a stored amount of water with a lot of pressure. If you're constantly using a lot of power though, the water tower will drain and will basically not do anything.
That's just how caps work, I'm just an electrical engineer, not an audio installer so I have no idea what type of caps are used and how much energy they can store. I've never used caps and just lived with dimming lights in my previous installs.

And the other point there is knowing what your average draw is as well. If you have your cars available amperage maxed out, caps will do nothing since there is not residual power to store.
That is where I am leaning. I think you are maxing your amperage under regular conditions or close to it, and your caps never have a chance to store power to smooth out the peak draws.

Without any info on the system then its useless to even try to help. How big is the cap and what amps are being run.
If you are using a cheap cap then don't expect much as well. You get what you pay for with caps.

Not sure what year your coupe is, but I do know the 05 Sedan and Coupes only came stock with 110 Amp Alternators.
Anyone know the general draw on the system for engine, ECU, and standard components?

Have checked what your voltage is? Dimming lights doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing for your electrical, but it is an indicator of how good your electrical is keeping up. If there is a delay when dimming then you really have issues. What I recommend is getting a DMM, playing a song that you know gets a lot of dimming and see what your voltage. If it's low then you will need some electrical upgrades which have been mentioned above.
