Lojack

So the dealer talked me into purchasing lojack. I think it was $500 for the life of the car.

OK he really didn't talk me into it. I like the idea of some fool who decided stealing my car was a good idea to be getting assraped in the local lockup.

Question is, does it really work? Have any of you had lojack and had your car stolen?

there is no insurance discount for having lojack with my insurer (nationwide).

I still want to know if anybody on here has actually had to use it.

From my understanding, atleast with our cars, they are a little hard to steal since they have that chip on the key. so i dont think anyone here has gotten the chance to use it on their G/Z.

i have it on my car, i got a letter in the mail yesterday saying its time for an inspection for $75

ive gone on ride alongs and police cars have this device that beeps and aims in the direction of where the vehicle is at if its stolen and around the patrol car i think 2-3 miles?. the closer you get to it the more it beeps. so yeah i would think they work ok

well a good alarm is around 3-4bills, 500, lojack, thats a steal...for the peace of mind you're gonna have a better chance of getting your car back...

i would get it, u never know...

when i got carjacked, while parked and smoking a cigarette, they were able to find the denali with ONSTAR within 5 miles of the hit. they took everything, but kept the wheels on there, took the navi, rear dvd player, all of the stuff..including my new dog.
atleast they found the car, ONSTAR loJack or whoever with a system like that, u have peace of mind...

They work and provide the highest discounts on insurance. The range is further than 2-3 on cruiser mounted receivers, and even further range on aerial units.

I have the lojack installed in mine and although I've never had my car stolen, they have called me once (and my emergency contact once) to warn me that someone may have been trying to steal my car. I ran outside and checked and it was still there and there were no signs of anything fishy, but I was glad to know that something was being monitored. I live about an hour from the US/Mexico border and we get cars stolen around here all the time. That's why I bought mine.
