Guys,

I've got my rear view cam completely wired up to my HU and reverse signal circuit. I'm at the point where I need to mount it and call it a day.

I have two Q's:

1. Where should I mount it? I've seen many put it at the top of their license plate. I'd have to cut a small section of my plate out to accommodate that. I could also put it to the left of the plate. That sort of bugs me since it's "off-center" but it might be less noticeable there (my car and the camera are both black).

2. How do I get the video, etc. wires coming from the camera through the trunk around the license plate area? I can't seem to find a place to bring the camera wires into the trunk?

what I did on Netcbc's car was drilled a hole just large enough for the connector to go through then resealed it. It's directly below his license plate.

Right behind the plate is a big rubber grommet that goes into the trunk. Just cut a hole in the grommet and run the wires through. That's how I did it when I installed mine.

I have the Boyo VTL420 license plate cam -- i didn't wanna deal w/ drilling, cutting, so i chose that one -- i also used the rubber grommet to pass the wires through --

Lift up the plastic trim piece where the truck latch is (it should pop up after you free some plastic pins) and you'll track where the wire harness for the license plate lights go... that's the same rubber grommet you'll fish your wire through. I used electrical fishing line... worked well.

Sounds good, thanks guys. I'll dig into this soon. Quick question though... do you think I can fit the small camera through the grommet? I already connected it up front and ran the camera into the trunk. If it won't fit through, I'll have to take down the glove box, unhook, and pull the line all the way out so I can take it in through the license plate grommet.

Also, what do you guys think about mount locataion?

Dude -- you HAVE to just run the wire thru that grommet, LOL (not laughing at you, just laughing at the concept having seen this grommet)

Sorry, too bad the cam isn't like most cam's that has a short wire hardwired into the cam that then gets connected to an extension cable that runs to the back of the HU

Cool, that's what I figured... just checking to make sure! Looks like I'll be dropping the glove box one more time and refishing the wire!

I just mounted mine on that flap right under the bumper infront of the plate.

What did you use to mount the camera to that part of the bumper? My camera came with a small metal mounting bracket. Two screws hold the camera between the brackets arms, and the bracket itself uses a strong adhesive to stick to wherever I choose to place it.

Sounds like this you may have mounted yours that way...

Cool, I'll see how mine looks mounted there instead. I was a bit concerned about cutting into the license plate area to mount it there, but this option seems nicer.
