I have a Sirius question. (Get it?)
Yeah i know, corny. Anyway, I just bought an 06 G coupe last weekend and lo & behold, it came with Sirius satellite radio pre-installed. Didn't say anything at the dealer cause they hadn't mentioned it, but when i was driving off the lot, i tried it out, and BAM! Satellite radio. Having never owned/used it before, i have a few questions. (Yes, i've searched.)
1. Is there any way to tell who is paying for the subscription or how long it will last?
2. Could it possibly be one of those 'holy grail' lifetime subscriptions just handed down to me?
I figure i will just use it until it runs out, in conjunction with the mp3/6CD and get one of those OEM iPod interface kits. I dont feel like calling Sirius and asking them about it cause i dont want them "fixing" my problem. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks everyone!

Previous owner might have purchased a subscription in advance and then traded the car in. I got mine with about 8 months left on it. Still up in the air if I'll renew it when the time comes ;p
But I seriously doubt it was a "mistake" lol

Yeah thats pretty much what I'm thinking, but my real questions is how I can find out how much longer I have. I do get all the stations on the Sirius package, I checked. Thanks for your replies, though!
Why the hell don't I get any special little surprises like these!!! The only surprises I get are: BAM! driver window stops working, BAM! Passenger window stops working, BAM! pothole came out of no where, BAM! need to pull over because my tire popped and now I have to buy a new one.
Those type of special surprises... I must have really wronged someone in the past and I just don't remember it. Hey-Zeus!

I bought a lifetime subscription on my receiver a while back, so I imagine if I had traded my car in w/o thinking about it, the new owner would end up with one.
You can check by looking at the receiver in the trunk under the all the trunk lining. Find the ESN on the receiver (ID number) and call Sirius to find out.

Exactly. The sat. radio subscribtion has nothing to do with the actual car, its tied to the ESN number from the reciever. There's also a way to get the head unit to display the ESN, I think it will display it if you hold down the #1 button for like 10 seconds or something... not sure though.
Well it depends you probably have 3 or 9months free subscription. Yes you can call and find out from Sirius. You need your SID number same thing as a ESN number but ESN is for XM radio. Well i just checked on mine its a 04 so it might be different but if you just put it on the preview channel it should pop up 12 numbers. But most other cars you need to put it on the preview channel and normally you hit the text button and it will show you the first 6 then hit text again and then it will show you the next six. But thats for toyotas but it should be the same.
By the way Sirius customer service blows. we warranty out like one reciever a week for sirius it blows. or antennas. im still going to get sirius because i bought my g used and it already has sirius so whatever saves me $700/ parts and labor. And XM customer service is worse just because there still going through the merger. Thats why people are having problems picking up channels and **** because xm and sirius arent sure what channels they want to keep.
I just got my 06 coupe a little over a month ago and it also had Sirius installed and activated. I called Sirius and they said they have no record of anyone paying for that particular serial number/ID. The customer service girl guessed that they may have purchased a lifetime membership through the dealership or something. Either way, she said for me to enjoy it and she wont flag the unit for no payment. I have been listening for a month with no problems ... although I need to do research on stations. I just aimlessly browse but do enjoy old Howard Stern clips on station 100.
Those of you with an '06 factory installed unit...can you explain how the display of info works on your units. On mine I can pick only one of these items at a time:
1. Channel #
2. Channel name
3. Song title
4. Artist name
I find it ridiculous that it doesn't show more info at once. The cheapest Sirius aftermarket radio shows you pretty much all of the above in one shot. Also to scroll between each item I have to hold the DISP button for 1.5 secs.

Can only Display one thing at a time.
yeah the display on our 06 bose systems is pretty bad! im glad that car companies in general are moving towards the LCD display... so much more versatile! on a related note, do you think there is a way to make that DISP button faster? just one quick push to change settings? that would be awesome. im sure some wiring / electronics genius could figure it out, but the "geniuses" at nissan shoulda figured it out before releasing the car...
oh and btw... GO LAKERS!!!!
