Alpine Type R's

Anybody have any opinion on these. I'm thinkin about getting a 12 for the ported fiberglass box I'm making. I don't want to spend too much on a sub, although the w6's are very tempting, and also the alpine can fit in a pretty small ported box which is one of the reasons I chose it. Well that and I've used their stuff in the past and really like their amps, just never had their subs.

Hey Shonuff,

The Type R's are very good subs. I have two 10's in my car and they really pound. I'm sure you'll be happy with them.

What was wrong with it? They might sound like *** if you don't buy a good amp. My install was custom so maybe the sound may vary.

Re: Alpine Type R's

type r's are good subs. They can handle a lot of power and SQ is very good. Price is very cheap especially on ebay.

To the gentleman who didn't have a good experience, it could have been several reasons:
1. bad sub
2. bad/wrong size enclosure
3. bad positioning
4. it takes several hours to several days for some subs to break-in. Right out of the box, they won't sound that great.

Re: Alpine Type R's

word.....i just ordered my sub and amp today both alpine's. Price to quality i think they are one of the best.

as for the new sub not sounding good, lack of breakin would definitely seem to be the case here. My subs in my old car sounded like crap at first but got better over time. It also helps a lot to have a good amp (of course) but with lots of control to it. My old alpine had all kinds of phase and Q control that you could fine tune to make it sound a lot better.

One Kicker 12 in a ported box is louder than 2 Infinity perfect 12's just needs power
