Tricking Factory Nav to change settings while driving?

Is there a way to bypass the factory nav and trick it so you can change stuff while driving? It sucks to have to pull over to change where you are going.

I agree it is locked down too far. As far as tricking the system to allow you to do what you want to do, well it is against the rules to discuss methods on how to do so.

There is/was a DIY on here on how to do it. Basically, you find the VSS wire going to the Navigation Control Unit and splice in a switch. When you want to program the nav while moving, hit the switch - this cuts the signal that tells the nav that the car is moving. When you're done, hit the switch again and the nav updates to your current position.

KP Technology also sells a module that will do this for you (along with some other stuff).

How about you just use the voice commands? Works for me. No need to stop or type, just speak.

The KP stuff looks real nice and the prices are not bad at all. I think I am going to go with that.
