Smile Just installed Pioneer AVH-P4100

So I just had my Pioneer AVH-P4100, Pioneer Bluetooth Adapter, and JDM dash kit installed today I'm VERYimpressed and happy with the sound quality. I'm not getting ANY distortion from the OEM Bose speakers that some others were having issues with. I'll post some pics soon!

Just had a few questions/concerns:

1) When using my cell (Samsung Rogue) via bluetooth, audio is ONLY coming from the front speakers. Is that how its supposed to be, or should I be getting audio from the rear speakers as well?

2) How do I transfer my contact list to the head unit?

3) How do I upload/transfer a custom picture to the head unit to use as the background?

I can't wait to see the pics! I just bought the DD yesterday and still thinking if I should get the P4100 or wait for the P4200. Did you get the bypass? If so, which one?

Also, where did you put the iPod/iPhone connector?

Going by the MSRP and features, I'd hold out for the P4200... but with all the features that are required add-ons, I'd get the Z110 today.

I think questions 1-3 are all answered in the owner's manual.

#1 - I can't find anything on this front-speaker only stuff

#2 - See Page 77 of the owner's manual.

#3 - See page 35 of the owner's manual.

#4 - Um, read the manual? It took many hours to get an answer this way, and the online manual can be searched very easy.

Still can't figure out the following:

1) I'm able to pair my cell via bluetooth with the head unit no problem; however, when I'm trying to transfer my phone book to the head unit from my cell, my cell immediately gets disconnected! I'm not sure whats going on! I keep trying to copy the phone book, but it keeps disconnecting the my phone from the bluetooth!

2) I copied a few JPEG's onto a CD-R and wanted to transfer one of the images onto the unit. However, I am unable to view the images on the head unit. The file names come up, but the actual images do not.

Might be an issue with that phone.

The manual says that if the JFIF data in the JPEG is done by your computer, it may not work. Other than that, it seems like it doesn't care the resolution or anything.

p4200

p4200 comes out in march with add on navigation and bluetooth modules. The p3200 comes bluetooth enabled but with a smaller screen yet a SD card and USB slot up front. P3200 is pretty sick but i'm willing to pay a lot more and add on two modules down the road for the full screen look of the p4200. The navigation and bluetooth add ons are probably going to be a couple hundred each. All the new models come with a sick new pioneer interface and special light touch technology. They have ipod and iphone integration beyond belief. You can fully function pandora off your head unit streaming music from your iphone. All integrated. The new line of pioineers give a lot of room to expand your system without buying a new unit down the road. By the way you can access all of the features the new units will have, compare them to each other or check both user manuals and installation manuals on them via www.pioneerelectronics.com

Nice pics, thanks! Did you get the bypass and which one?

I was hoping the p4200 would be released sooner as usually its about a month after CES when products get released for these types. I think I'll just go with the P4100.

I think the expandability of the 4200 is worht waiting a month or two for, but when you can get the Z110 for about $720 after rebate right now... Hard to argue against it.

Use a relay for bypass

I checked on youtube for the p4100 and found a link to a video that explains how to wire up a standard Bosch relay bypass. I ordered a bosch relay, they're kinda hard to find now. Generic relays are more common and very inexpensive that will work as well i think. Type p4100 in youtube and look for the bypass video. I think there's actually more than one way to bypass these. Basically the parking brake wire on the head unit cannot remain grounded to bypass, simulating a switch with a relay. You can actually use a real switch to do this too but then timing of flipping the switch is an issue. The relay will keep it automated upon start up.

Can't seem to find the Z110 for that price anywhere. Would you happen to have a link? Thanks!

Ok, I figured out #1 and #2, but I still can't figure out how to upload a picture? I tried to transfer a picture via flashdrive and I also tried transferring a picture via CD-R! It picks up the file, but no image is displayed!

Any ideas?

Try loading the file into an image editor and save it as a PNG.

Then open that PNG and save as a JPG.

Might work.

Also, please post what you did to fix #1 & #2 for future reference.
