Converting Non-Navi 06 Sedan To a Bose Navi System

Converting Non-Navi 06 Sedan To a Bose Navi System
What would this take? I really don't even know where to start with this project.
My CD jammed in my regular Bose system and I have not been able to find one to replace this one, but i did find a system with GPS, so why not upgrade while changing. Please tell me what i will need to do to get this job done.

You need only one thing:
A new plan.

There's a good reason that there's only been 1-2 people who have successfully added factory navigation to their cars.
It's more expensive, harder to get parts, a TON more labor, more expensive and less timely to get updated maps and doesn't add any of the other benefits of an aftermarket headunit w/navigation, which includes, but is not limited to iPod integration & bluetooth.

If you insist on doing this, you'll need at least these parts:
2006 Navigation Unit w/all mounting hardware to fit in the top glovebox
2006 Navigation display w/all mounting hardware to put in center console
2006 Navigation wiring harness
2005/2006 Navigation GPS antenna

The only benefit of factory nav is the pop-up display.

It's possible, it's just there's no reason to waste the time/money in doing it when a double din install offers so many other benefits.

Just found this in the for sale forums:

This is why you don't want to "upgrade" to a navi system - have fun wiring that up.

You can go with a cheap GPS double din - like the Pioneer U310BT, but that's very entry-level. Few POIs (can be helped by spending another $100 on POI SD card) and few other things of note besides iPod and bluetooth. They run $300-400, and you can do a JDM kit for $300 used fairly reguarly in the marketplace here. Add $60 for a steering wheel adapter, and $20 for harness and antenna adapters.

So basic nav under $1k, but I'd really recommend stepping up and spending into the $1k headunit range and get a nice powerful unit.

agreed... spend extra money. I just had mine installed last night, looks awesome- the JDM DD was very expensive, but well worth the money to make it look good. I bought this Pioneer system DVD/NAV/XM radio, walmart and Best Buy has it for about $1200, but I go it here for $650 brand new:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-I...Q5fAccessories .

riverside infiniti is the ebay store that sells the JDM DD kits. I was able to get it for $300 with shipping included.

I also spend another $25 to get a steering wheel set up... so the volume and seek controls will work on steering wheel.

Another $25 on a Bose speaker wireing system... the guy installing it for me had to use an additional cord to be able to use ALL of the bose speakers... also so the volume controls would work right.

another $50 on I-pod cord... this Pioneer system will control you ipod you have hooked up. I have another cord that the guy hooked up under/behind my dash and sits in the glove-box. I can now set my ipod in the glovebox, close it, and have my ipod running and charging wihtout seeing any wires.

another $100 to get my xm radio satelitte set up.

I spent, including taxes and all, $1275 to get this installed. Well worth my money. Biggest expenses were the JDM DD unit ($300), the NAV/DVD system ($650), and the installation itself ($300). Pay EXTRA to get it professionaly installed.... don't pay Best Buy to do it for $100. Not worth it.

You can also save money by finding a friendly local G35'er. I've done a few installs for pizza & mtn. dew, and there may be a few members in your area that'll do the same.
