Hi, can anyone tell me if either of these harnesses are the "M39 harness" for the metra axxess aswc1 to tap into? Pictures labelled 1 and 2 are different connectors.
Also, on the picture labelled "axxess" those 4 wires are the only ones necessary? As for the red wire coming from the AXXESS harness, that is supposed to be connected to the red wire from the main radio harness? I have taped off all of the other colored ones that will not be used.
Thank you in advance for the help. I will post photos when everything is finished and working!

Reason: added question
I’ll look it up. Give me a bit.
I have a 2006 sedan. I posted pics of the connections here before but not sure what page it’s on.
Cheers. Yeah I was scrolling through and doing my best, but this thread pretty old and some of the pictures are gone. I just want to be sure before I accidental l try to tap the wrong connector and fry something :/
Its my first time doing something with so much electrical work 😅
I
hope the pic gives you a good idea how to hook up the steering wheel controls and also you need to program the aswc1 after it’s hooked up and powered up the first time.
while lights are blinking fast keep pressing vol + till light goes out. Make sure everything is plugged in before powering up the aswc.
I used the aswc1 before but changed to iDatalink SW because it has more programming options.
sadly you need computer to make it work.
aswc works without computer.

When it says connect axxess black to pin 11 (yellow) on the 20pin harness, am I supposed to cut the yellow from the harness, connect them and then ground it to any metal?
And for the two steering control wires (red/gray, and green/ white) do I just tap into steering control A and B?
that’s why I like the iDatalink one because it provides the reference ground.
do not cut any wires off the connector. I tap into them a couple inches before connector.
from aswc harness:
connect black to ground (radio connector)
connect red to acc wire (radio connector)
connect the 2 other wires to the correct pin (wire colors not always match the pic) of radio connector.
radio connector:
pin 4: gray/red wire from aswc
pin 11: connect this wire to ground (I add a black wire from this pin to same ground I used for aswc)
pin 13: white/green wire from aswc

Yes your instructions are very clear and concise. However I am quite a rookie at electrical work. For the ground (pin 11 on radio harness) how would I connect and ground this, if I am not supposed to cut?
So I can tap from pin 11 (radio harness) to the ground, and then add a second extra piece of wire to tap from aswc black to extra wire and then attach the extra wire to a ground?

Just an extra piece of wire connected to pin 11 of the radio harness and connect it to ground.
the ground is the feed to the steering wheel control buttons. And the other 2 are the return.
the 2 return wires is what aswc sees and if you press a button the resistance changes and aswc sees the change and does appropriate function.
oh I’m sorry, you can cut the wires if you want.
I work on Ferrari and other exotics and I do not cut wires just in case owner decides to trade/sell it and I can return it to OEM easily.
only time I cut wires is for speakers when I’m adding an amp inline if I can’t find or make a t-harness to sit in between.
Is this my problem wire? Is the ground bad? I grounded it to the top part where the "arm" for the DD comes up to mount. Aswc1 red/gray and green/white connected to red and green on m39 harness Taps from aswc1 red wire to red wire (connected main radio harness) and aswc1 black to black (main radio harness)

I too would prefer to not cut any wires unless absolutely necessary. I have everything wired now, but the axxess does not show any lights. Where could I have gone wrong? I am guessing that I didnt ground it correctly as someone had a similar problem to this post:
