Different subs require different ports and volume of the box, and there's also the fact that their size usually means that the generic shape fits poorly, so a "generic" ported box is kind of an oxymoron.
Now, if it's a ported box made for one woofer for one car, you can mass produce them.
Sealed though, there's a lot broader range of applicability, so you can have a good, "custom-fit" box that is generic like the 4080 or zenclosures one.

If you're going for SPL, ported is *definitely* the way to go. SQ has supporters on both sealed and ported side.

I found a pre fab that's very close to what re audio recommends. The box is 12'' tall i don't know if that will fit in the back part of the trunk
