You trim off about 1/8 of an inch, but as the first post says, unless you're getting a great deal on a used non-navi trim piece, buy the one that's the right size straight from Grubb's Infiniti, who, as far as I know, is still the only source in the US for the right part.
The gap between the radio and trim can be filled with any thin black plastic. The scosche trim piece I recommend is pretty much just a good quality part that can be cut and trimmed very easily with scissors and/or a razor to fit around various radios. If you want something cheap but not as easy to cut, just search amazon.com for some thin black ABS plastic.

thnx, ima finally pull the trigger and cut it tomorrow, i would of got the kit from Grubbs but i got a great deal for 200 flat at racingnissan for the dual air control and trim piece, it turns out that racingnissan.com is actually located at the nissan dealer next to my house which is literally 2 mins from my house so i couldnt pass that up.
idk if anyone is having this issue but im having trouble with my wiring, i got the new pioneer 8500 DD and im wiring it with the 70-7551, i was one of the lucky ones where my SQ didnt get effected how ever when i hooked up the AXXESS ASWC i got this really loud static coming from my woofer, im thinking it might be a bad ground. also i bought the micro brake bypass, its very simple to wire up but for some reason its not working properly, idk if its my radio or if its the car. so any advice would be very helpful on wiring the ASWC or the brake bypass

No reason for the brake bypass on the 8500 unless you're trying to break the law by watching videos while the car is in motion. Remove it to eliminate it as a noise source. If it were a nav-equipped radio which you wanted to have your passenger enter destinations while driving, I can see justification for the bypass. Otherwise, it's a big no.
Is the ASWC functional? The ground quality is important with regards to it sending signals, so if it were poorly grounded, the steering wheel buttons would work extremely poorly.

My cut was pretty straight until the far right end where it became uneven. If i could do it over i would have picked one side to start cutting from :-) Doesn't bother me enough to buy another one seeing how I got the JDM trim for free!

You could probably even it out with a piece of 800 grit sandpaper taped to a flat surface and just slide the trim back and forth along it lengthwise.

It will fit fine, you'll just have about an 1/8 inch gap at the top. Few people would probably know it's not supposed to be there.
At the moment I'm the other way around, I have the non nav trim and can't decide if I wanna hack it up or wanna just go with metra...
