looking for hot wire

I'm looking for a hot wire in the trunk, but one that's only on when the ignition switch is in the ON position (can not be on when the ignition switch is in the ACC or off position).
This wire will power a relay to turn on power (@ 20 amps) to a nitrous heater blanket.
Can any one help me with this?
Terry

Re: looking for hot wire

The DIY guide to install a new amp + eq (look for the thread in the DIY section) has the wiring for the amp, which you could leach off of.

However, that wire is probably around 12 gauge (???) and probably not suitable to run another 20 amps through it. Another run of 10 gauge wire directly from the battery may be advisable (probably do 4 or 6 gauge while you're at it for future power draws).

Re: looking for hot wire

Take your car to the local stereo shop. They should be able to find the correct wire to power up upon ignition. They had my stereo system wired that way initially, so I'm sure it can be done for your nitrous blanket.

The other option would be to run from battery and put a on/off switch in your car.
