Been skimming the audio section, but cant really find what i'm looking for, are there any good threads about what brand/spec speakers are a good upgrade for a Bose equipped G35 sedan?

Yes, I realize im probably the 1,000,000th person to do a thread like this..I do apologize.

I would do a search under the user "Wrathernaut" He has a ton of good info for our cars' audio system. I really did not want to get rid of my OEM Bose... and upgraded my speakers to Boston Acoustics... there was a slight upgrade in sound quality but finally.... I gave in and put in a Kenwood head unit and holy mother sucker... it was a HUGE difference.
I have Bose headphones and Home Theater and I love them.. I can not believe they put their name on our OEM Head Units... they are full of "the suck"
Keep in mind, you can swap out head units and still use OEM speakers and OEM amp and still sound a million times better.

So it's more the fault of the head unit than the speakers... i'd like to do the "JDM" DD thing, but i just dont have the cash to justify paying around $300 for just the bezel piece, I have a nice 240w Pioneer unit I could use that has an ipod hookup just sitting in the top of my bedroom closet, i just need said bezel to install it, and I hate that cheapo Metra or whatever it is.

I understand what you mean. I found mine on this forum for 270 something. Maybe there is a way to make the old one work? The metra one is very ugly.

I wasted a lot of money trying to get around the head unit but in the end, I am very happy with my simple system. Good luck!

so the general consensus is that upgrading the HU is more worth it (in terms of quality) than upgrading speakers?

I'm looking into upgrading my sound system (stock bose), and want to spend as little as possible for he best results. (Basically the best bang for buck set-up)

I already tried that and spent time and money just to end up getting a new HU. I wouldnt go back. I got a Kenwood DDX for 300 and it changed the sound much more than the speakers and other things I tried. My fkn JDM DD face cost almost as much as my HU tho. You can save a lot by going with a Metra DD face.. you can find those for 80-100

The biggest sound quality improvement is going to be by cutting out the bose amplifier. If you have the non-bose system, you'll get a lot out of a new headunit alone, as you'll have more, better power for the stock speakers. With the bose amp still in the loop, you have the same amount and quality of power going to the stock speakers.

With that in mind though, the factory headunit is almost always (and frequently) the first thing to fail, so I'd get it out of the way before spending anywhere else.

If I was on a $500-600 budget for all audio (incl. sound deadener), what would you suggest?

Haha I guess that's a little wishful thinking on my part. Would sound deadened even be worth it for an upgrade on audio with my budget?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what would you guys suggest I get with my budget? I listen to mostly electronic for example dubstep n house music and also a little bit of hip-hop.
