Talking 2006 G35 Coupe Audio Advice??????

Hey guys, I just purchased a 2006 G35 coupe MT. I want to keep the same quality of the BOSE system but put in an aftermarket touch screen stereo. I already know I need a JDM double din. Will the quality stay the same if I change the stock stereo to aftermarket??

Quality might go up or down, since the Bose parts are so inconsistent, they don't respond the same across all cars, however, using the PAC ROEM-NIS2 adapter with an aftermarket headunit has the most consistent results with maintaining the same "quality" of audio that the Bose system was putting out.

If you think the Bose system is good though, you really haven't listened to any decent audio system. The EQ in the bose amplifier cuts the bass as volume goes up, since it doesn't have anywhere near the power to do all the speakers at any high volume, cutting it out is key to improving the audio. If you want to cheaply improve the quality install a new amp in addition to the replacement of the headunit. It will be a decent step up from what the bose system sounds like, since you'll have enough power and have lost that horrible EQ in the bose amp. If you're really wanting significant improvement, spend about $800 on speakers, amps, and a sub and you'll be as disgusted at the bose system as I am.

If you replace the amp, you do not need the adapter, just a standard wiring harness - Metra 70-7550 or 70-7551, which you use doesn't matter so long as you run your own RCAs to the rear. The only difference between the two is that the 70-7551 plugs into the line-level outputs (RCAs) to send via the factory speaker signal wires, while the 70-7550 connects to the speaker-level outputs (wires) to send via the factory speaker signal wires. Since new RCAs mean you're not using the factory speaker signal wires, which you use is irrelevant... The 70-7550 will take up slightly less room behind the radio, as there are no RCA plugs on it.

As far as speakers, depends entirely on your budget, but I'm a big proponent of the front soundstage setup. Two high-quality component speakers and a powerful 2-channel up. To get a good surround or four speaker-setup to sound right, you need processing to account for distance from the driver to the speakers and such. Front soundstage, on the other hand, is how we experience pretty much everything in life, so it's more natural to me, as well as being cheaper and easier to get right.
