kenwood ddx719 vs pioneer avh 4400

Anyone have preference?

Both are 500 on Crutchfield and about 420 on amazon. Both look pretty good, have the rear USB and 6 pre amp outs I need . I already have the steering wheel adapter for Kenwood so i kinda wanna stay with Kenwood but not if the pioneer is much better.

Thoughts?

From the videos I've seen, the Kenwood interface is a little slow. I've never messed with one in person though, so not sure if it's any different. Also the phone interface on Pioneer is really easy to use and accessible from just about every screen.

The features are more or less the same between the two regarding input/output, but here's some differences to consider:
Pioneer offers an 8-band EQ and Kenwood's is only 3. Also the user interface of the Pioneer is really easy; you can just drag your finger across the screen and the levels match your touch.
Pioneer offers HD Radio, Kenwood does not. If you not a fan of HD Radio then it's no big deal, but I think the quality is significantly greater than regular radio.
Last, if you care about a wireless remote, the Kenwood unit's costs extra.

Hope that helps.

HD Radio is downright awesome, and actually I find it more awesome for talk radio/morning shows than for music. Everything's so crisp that it's much easier to understand what people are saying.

Some areas have tons of stations, but more rural areas you might get 1-2.

Decided to go with the pioneer. Talked to the crutchfield rep, and he said the pioneer was better with the ipod interface. and had HD radio. he seemed to like that one better so.

Installed the pioneer last night. Sounds amazing! Looks great! I'll post pictures tonight

2 problems though.
1- I need to raise the subs up and I don't know how. My other stereo had the subs to a much higher level. Now they sound muted even with them raised to a sub level of 6 (Max to my understanding) I may just raise the gain on the amp.

2- (I have auto 2004) when i open the face plate to insert a disc and my car is in park, the face plate hits the shifter. Are there any ones I can buy for an a/t that will fit w.o it hitting?

guess im the only guy who likes Kenwood anymore

their headunits are a little slow but they are full of features.
When you get up into the higher eXceleon series you get a ton of audio adjustments

the new pioneers have time alignment and a 13 band eq for the front and a 13 band 13eq for the rear?

not saying more bands of eq makes a set up sound better but it gives you more options on tuning.
Also, if I remember right the eXcelon series has a lot more crossover slopes than the pionners
40/50/60/70/80/120 for the front speakers. Each a 6/12/18 db

I ran an Avic D3 a few years back and recently a Z120bt. I could never get them so sound "right" to my ears.

I know everyone has a preference but I am a big time audio tweaker

I just recently installed the 4400 aswell and my sub seems to be quieter than running off the stock deck. The sub volume control seem's to be pretty tame. I just turned the gain up on my amp and turned down the sub volume to 0. so when i need to pound i can.
