i have read somewhere that the Clarion HU rolls off the bass the higher you go on the volume. i experienced this firsthand last night... once i passed 20 in the volume the bass simply would not get any louder. i clearly noticed it drop off, and when i went back down on the volume to like 5 and then returned to 20 it was back.

btw i have an '04 5AT coupe.

once the CleanSweep comes out from JL Audio, it may be able to defeat the built in equalization of the headunit and thus remedy this problem if you're using aftermarket equipment.

i, however, am taking more drastic measures... and wiring up this tomorrow....
(bought it from a buddy who is selling his Laser Red 6MT)

FWIW, I just tried snicking the treb from +5 to +4 and when the car was turned off and on, the treble stayed where it was, with no change. It looks like an earlier poster may be right, perhaps only values of +5 will trigger this.

why is it that our stock radio system sounds like a POS?!?! Its bad enough that we have to change the treble everytime we sit in the car, but that'd be okay if the stereo system sounded somewhat decent. whats up with infiniti/bose?

yep, that's my thought, or maybe some other factor, like the delta between bass and treble. my suspicion is that ALL the 05 bose units have this issue, but it doesn't occur except for under a particular range of settings.

Is There A Fix Yet?

Just picked up my new '05 G35 Coupe and have noticed the same issue. If I keep the base below +5 it stays at the same setting, but the treble is reduced each time I get into the car regardless of what setting it was above 0. The problem persists regardless of what SSV setting you have as well.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this yet?

I am not aware of any fixes yet. Although was was posted before (see qoute above) seems to work for me - but its still not a fix to our problem.

i called my local dealer about this nuissance... he told me that he is aware of the problem due to other complaints but does not have a solution. anyone else have any luck with this crap? he told me that he could order in another head unit but could not guarantee that it would fix it. what's the point of opening up my dash in order to fix something without even knowing if it will work? plus... with dealer workmanship these days... something else might get screwed up in the process. anyone else annoyed? any possible fixes?? nothing new on this subject??? bueller ... bueller????

CD Player drops Left channel

I have a 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT thet I picked up new back in May 2004. After about 4 months and 17,000 mile (havin fun with mine!!) i noticed that the front left channel drops out, if you switch to the Radio, the left channel is fine. If I give the left side of the console holding the stereo a lovin tap, the left channel will come back and play again. When the problem got worse, I took my baby in and the dealer swapped out the HU no problem. The system ran fine for another 2 months, and this problem has returned.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks:

Maddogday

What is the newest build dates with this problem? I got my 05 coupe (premium w/ Bose) 3 weeks ago (build date: Dec 2004) and I don't seem to have this problem(?) In fact, I've tried to duplicate it by trying various settings, but it always seems to stay the same for me. No noticable change in audio quality. Have they fixed this, did I get lucky, or am I just missing something?

Dropped off my '05 for the 7k service this morning. The service guy doubts that they can do anything to fix this problem, but he'll call it in anyway.

Everyone with an '05 - PLEASE make sure you have your dealer call this problem in! The more people that report it, the sooner we'll hopefully see a fix from Infiniti.
