I Need A Single DIN

I need a single DIN. I don't want a double DIN because I have the problem where my car wont lock.

What kit do I need for the setup. I want a din it doesnt have to be expensive. As long as it will last.

Also, the reason why im doing this is because i have the curcuit problem where the radio never works, and the heat stays on. Will this fix that problem??

Thanks.

Rather just go for a double din IMO cause a single din doesn't look very nice. Getting any new head unit setup will fix that problem.

Metra will be the easiest way to do a single-din, as they have the single-din option in their trim that comes with the little single-din cubby beneath the radio slot.

Yes, it will fix the a/c issue.

Yeah, fixing the car locking problem would probably be at the top of my list.

If you want to replace your entire dash, it could work.

Yes, it will come with the circuit board.

No, the 05+ radios will not fit in your 03 dash. It will fit an 05+ dash. Unless you go through the complete changeover of dashboard of your car, it won't fit.

Metra Double/Single Din Kit 99-7604 sources: Amazon - (Black, Silver or Tan)

You're probably going to get charged a good amount more than $50 to have a shop do it. It takes awhile to do. Was a big pain in the add souldering all those wires together and getting the steering controls to work.

My post above was incomplete. Explorer keeps freezing for G35driver.

The car not locking is probably related to a door actuator problem if by not locking you mean you can still lock it manually with the key (common problem with the G).

The heat staying on issue is also a common problem with the radio/AC controls and replacing the AC controls and radio will fix this issue. Look at Wrathernaught's sticky at the top of this subforum for everything you'll need to get the job done. It's a bit of a pain with this car but for sure doable. I never did anything electrical with any of my cars in the past and I got this working easily by doing my research and asking a few questions to fill in some newb gaps. As posted above, the install will be a lot more than $50 when you see the amount of paneling that has to be removed to get to the radio and all the other crap/custom work required to get it looking proper.
