Settings are a possibility, as well as the way its wired.
The amp is a jl 500x1 and the sub is a 10w6v2..

JL and kicker are apples to oranges.

JL is an SQ company first, SPL second.

Kicker is an SPL company. Stop comparing the 2.

Yeah it is, I did notice before when i had the volume up and had the trunk open the sub sounded distorted but was hitting hard but when the volume is down it doesn't sound distorted..

I don't feel like googling the info right now. Go to another shop that knows what they're doing. Either your amp is too powerful or your current shop fvcked up.

Na i don't really understand how the settings work and I'm being lazy about it right now till I get a new sub.. haha

Power isn't it

Sorta seems like the sub is running out of xmax

Is the sub in a ported box, OP? if so, what's it tuned to?

It's in a sealed box I had built for the sub similar to the 4080 driver side box..

That's an odd issue

The amp has to be causing it, though.

Take a picture of the settings on the amp and report back

Ok I will tomorrow, it's almost like the face of the sub is getting pushed out to far, I was thinking because of the settings maybe..
