How to Add Auxiliary or iPod Input to the Factory Radio
#121
Hi...I have a '05 sedan with just the basic radio with the cd changer (no Bose).I tried the FM modulator that hooks to the antenna but the quality is still bad...plus I get noise when I hook up the charger to my phone (Note 3 which is my source of music). I have no SAT or CH/CHANNEL button so does that mean my only option was the FM modulator? Thank you in advance.

Um, read the first post. You can use any of the options except "Option B" since you said you don't have the satellite adapter.

Ok...I read the description on all those adapters again and from what I read they ALL require the SAT or CAT feature on your radio. I'm sorry if I'm still missing something . Would you please point me in the right direction on which adapter(s) will work for me. Thx again.

No, they don't. It means that "first gen" ipods ONLY. Because the cord outputs 12vdc on the charge circuit. It will not charge an iphone or current ipod. I know, my 2011 Nissan pick up has that cord. You must get an adapter that drops the voltage down to 5vdc (i.e. USB) for it to charge any current iwhatever.

The only radio that doesn't work with the Nissan-style adapters (see first post for a list of them) are the very early '03 radios. All others are satellite adapter capable (although they may not be pre-wired to the trunk), regardless of what the labels on the plastic buttons say.

NO. It will not work with your car. It's compatible with the iPod, it IS NOT compatible with a 05 G35. I'm probably going to delete all mentions of this product from this thread so that people don't get confused and accidentally buy one since it's mentioned in a thread about adapters that work.

Sorry for me doubting but I'm just curious how will I switch to another input for that adapter to work when currently I'm unable to do that. The only inputs my radio switches to is either FM,AM, or CD. Again I apologize but I want to be completely sure before I spend $100.00+ dollars on this adapter. I pretty sure you done your research before starting this thread and you should know what you're talking about but you should understand my concern. Thank you for your time.

So I could use this adapter: GROM Audio GROM-AND-NIS02 , even though the product description page states "Suitable for the following vehicles with CAT/SAT should be on stereo", and I have this radio installed?

There are exactly two radios for each car model - bose or non-bose. There are multiple plastic buttons that go in the trim. Some say sat, some say radio, just depends on what parts were sitting next to the assembly guy at the time.

Okay. May i start by saying this thread is LOADED with info. Great job. However im still a little confused about the aux adapter. Only because when i looked up the adapters that were listed, almost all of them said in order to work i needed to have the button on my radio that says "CAT" to use it. But i have the base model coupe (05' 6mt). No bose, no sat radio. So which adapter can i use???
