Bose Headuniters !
anyone know why there is such a dramatic difference going from volume level 19 to 20? its almost as if my system doesnt kick in until I turn it up to 20..

That may actually be the point where it starts heavily cutting the power to the woofer and giving it to the front speakers.
Also, if you've got the speed sensitive volume set, 20 might also be the point where it stops reducing volume based on vehicle speed.
you mean BLOWSSSSS ? how much of a difference can i expect when i upgrade my head unit? I know one thread said the Blose head unit gives out relatively good quality.. but i mean, cmon, theres just so many features to an aftermarket!
i replaced my doors and tweeters with a polk db6501 setup, i gotta say at high volume they suck..i have a jl 300/2 amping them, did away with the rear speakers.. i came from a 99 explorer with two way speakers in the doors and two 10in subs man did the setup sound nice no distortion what so ever and i had an even shittier amp.. im wondering do i really need component speakers? should I just go with two way? im looking for really nice mids and highs, i dont really needs lows because im running two 10in jls in the back. me personally i like to bump my radio and with these door speakers I can only go so high without it sounding like crap.. wondering if its the headunit..

I have had this problem in my 2005 for years. The system sounds stale and dull until you push the volume past 21, then the treble comes back and it sounds fine until the next time you shut it down.
I did notice that after a battery change or an ECM reset, the problem is not there for several weeks, and then it comes back.
