It's a relatively simple repair, which is detailed here:
https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...epair-diy.html

I can't recall if somebody's used them before, but any shop that has fair reviews will have the capability of doing the repair.

Well... Wathernaut think you might have this wrong!! The error message is "CD error F0". That means that the CD head unit will need to be removed and the unit sent out for repair. Unless you have removed your CD player from the dash then I think your are mistaken. It is not an easy removal. So can you give me more info or shortcuts for removing the CD unit from a 2003 Coupe. Any help would be appreciated. The Climate Controls are fine as is the radio!!!

I think you are mistaken by getting it fixed. Chances are good something else will stop working on it soon after anyways. Save your money and get an aftermarket head unit. How about something with a USB port for a tiny thumb drive that can store more music than your broken jukebox can hold?

Um, have I ever removed the CD player from the dash?

I'll just leave this here:
https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...urce-list.html

But yes, as for the CD ER F0, that one is usually related to a mechanical failure, not the usual bad resistor error. Had that info been in the original question, my answer would have been different. With the mechanical failure, I have the same recommendation as dukehotty, do the upgrade to aftermarket, or if you don't want to do that, just get an AUX adapter and connect it to the back of the radio - https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...ory-radio.html

I know that replacing the head unit would probably be a good idea. I had the same Clarion unit in a 2005 Cadillac CTS I owned. Cadillac was considerate enough to offer a recall and free replacement. My 11 yr old (Dec 2002) coupe has 24,345 miles on it and I am committed to keeping it stock. I have replaced the headlights with the 06's because I broke the housing on one of my 03's and the 06's just look and perform better. I added the factory front lip and JDM pedals. I'm also running Enkei RS05 SBC wheels (chrome looking but actually more like a powder coating) they are stock size 18's and weight 19 lbs (I'm a believer in rotating mass). I do however have 5 perfect OEM Performance Pkg 03 wheels which will go with the car when I sell it. I have the original manuals box with CD case, keychain and all the other goodies provided in 2003. I have the original dealers brochure and every magazine review about the G35 from 2003 (Car & Driver, Road and Track, etc). The Miata I mention in my sig line I've owned for 24 years.

OK...I'm sure I've wasted enough of your time. What I am looking for is the very best repair facility to fix the CD unit. I do have a USA Spec PA15-NIS which I will install when I have the dash apart. I just do not want to sell the car with a non-working CD player. I had not used the CD in years. But one day...just decided to play a CD and got the dreaded CF0 error message.

Wrathernaut...I have been reading your posts for years and have found them extremely informative. Without a doubt you have brought more to the Audio forum than almost anyone. We are actually sort of neighbors. I live in the Huntsville, AL. If you have info on a local (local being anywhere in the southern or even eastern US) repair facility that would be great. All of the ones I've found are in California.

I think I mentioned it before, but all the repairs that have been successful that I know of have been the failed resistors, so I don't know if anyone who has had the CD ER F0 error that has sent one in for repair. I'm a transplant into this area, so I can't make recommendations, especially without having heard any success stories with that particular repair. Since the ease of repair of the failed resistors has been revealed, it seems like something any shop could repair, the mechanical components of the CD changer seem like they're a bit more complex to repair.

I completely understand wanting to keep it stock for resale purposes, I'd say having a failed radio is about as authentically stock as it gets in these cars.

So I'd suggest picking up an early '03 radio that still works and install an aftermarket one so that you'll have the functioning OEM radio if/when you ever sell it.

If you are referring to me as new kid. I've been a member since January of 2003. I purchased my coupe as a retirement present. Retired at 55 so figure it out...kid I'm not. Didn't realize who I was dealing with when I made that statement. If you read the last of my posts you would realize that I have corrected my mistake and apologized.
