Inexpensive Drivers side subwoofer for G35 Coupe
I know its not sexy like the now unavailable 4080 enclosure, but I did mock up an inexpensive alternative you can score from eBay/pick & pull for cheap. Chevy Cobalt SS factory Pioneer Enclosure. I don't know the specs on the dual voice coil 10" that's in the box, but definitely can be replaced to the sub of your choice. By just moving the bose amp thats bolted to the floor over a couple inches, the pioneer box seems to fit in well and not look to bad. You could find matching carpet or I think i would paint it DG and add a bose sub with a grill, powering it with a decent amp from my factory system. Not quite sure on how to hold the box in place but i think i can fab a bracket from the factory amp mounting location. I love the 4080 box, but their hard to find and I don't want a huge trunk filling setup, just a little extra thump.
Trimming the plastic and then the carpet to fit around it properly should look decent. This particular box is in rough shape, so its a little hard on the eyes.

I got mine in the mail a few days ago and i started taking apart my trunk and test fitting today.
It fits in that space pretty nice! I believe once mounted the trunk stuff will all fit back in with little modification.
For mounting im planning to weld a bolt to a small 2 x 2" sheet metal and rivet in place for the top right mount. all the other bolt holes in the speaker box are not as easily usable. ill have to make 1 more bracket that ties in from the right side or trunk area interior sheet metal to mount. i figure 2 bolts is fine to secure it plus all the trunk material molded around it.
